Since mid of march, road is open.
Better avoid after rain as there are still parts with mud and going water.
At km 52, there is a quite nice glaciar mirador.

The road is open! The cleared the landslide, drained the lake and now cars can pass. Amazing 52km drive to the glacier!

Road is open again! Might not be a year round solution but no trouble for us to pass late March.

Road still closed for another 2 weeks, according to the guys working there. So estimated to be open again around 20th of March?

Road is still closed. About 150m of road still need to be constructed.

This road will never open again unless they find a way to drain the lake but it is still scenic to drive the 25k and have a look at this occasion.

Actually this is the end of the drive into the valley! Road closed, the glacier walkers continue by boats from here.

A Landslide blocked the valley and a new lake arised. The Road is now under water (up to 5m). There is a boat shuttle over the lake (only persons, we did it while a glacier tour). The are working on the blockade.
