Stayed 3 night without any issue and could have stayed more. I stopped at the first place after entering Slab City to buy a Tee shirt. Asked about Slab City and if I could park overnight. Butch told me to go visit East Jesus first then come back and park in the area next to his plot. East Jesus was interesting and I enjoyed it. It's like a poor man's Meow Wolf. When I parked in the large open area there were several other vanlife folks here. I recommend this spot, just be smart!!

stayed at The Range, got permission from the guy who runs it. check out salvation mountain website to see if you can volunteer to maintain the salvation mountain.. the range hosts open mic every Saturday from sunset to the last performer. the range is byob! they do sell food tho. good times but stay alert. loose dogs, most friendly, but also error on the side of caution.

i also enjoyed the library! cheap beer, wine, mixed drinks, water and soda. you can checkout a book and dont have to return. you can alao donate books to the library.

also be sure to see east jesus sculpture park. there is also a hot spring to the right of the gift shop at the entrance at 106°

Entered Slab City with a cautious attitude. Exited the next day after a good overnight.

There are plenty of great people in this city. Of course don't forget to stay in the safe spots. We got lucky with a great guy named Jim and his dog Buck. Such a great time all around. Listen to bad experiences, but don't go in with a clouded head.

Mojo's Camp is the place to stay if you're visiting and want to stay in the slabs. It is safe and very dog friendly. Mojo and those that live at her camp are very friendly and hospitable. I will definitely be back!

I stayed a night at the hot springs — locals circled my rig blasting Beastie Boys, ha — and then I visited East Jesus. Slab City is an interesting experience. You should probably go. Tell Cornelius at the library hello.

Might not be for everyone but definitely will take in and care and love anyone. I was afraid it would all be fake when I got here, and even though most everything is closed down because of the coronavirus and due to it being the off season it is even better than anything the internet has to say.

slab city tourist , the last free place in America!

Winter retreat for the next few months. The dogs love it.

The East Jesus is really worth a look. Very friendly caretakers and interesting to chat with.

Slab City is in abandoned US military base that's now owned by the State of California and is home to hundreds of winter RV residents and some dozens of year-round residents. It's a pretty wild place, there are some crazy art projects including the famous Salvation Mountain, and a wide mix of people. Some areas are beautiful, some look like a garbage dump, but you can pick your neighborhood. Whether or not it's your scene, it's definitely worth checking out.

Love it, lots of interesting people and lifestyles. Free spirits meet here. Some weird, some really cool. Mostly just really nice...

Very interesting place to stay the night and visit for a day. If you park at the road just right after the bridge, you see a small little art house, walk past it and in the bushes you will find a nice and cold stream that functiones as a shower. The hostel in the city itsself also has a shower, and toilets. They host live music at the ranch om saturdays and every first saturday of the month they host a volunteer day when they collectively paint the salvation mountain.

Slab City is the Last Free Place in the USA. Lots of snow birds flock here in the winter. It is to hot to stay for the summer.

Huge space with tons of spots to park any sized rig! Have neighbours or don't it's up to you! There are no facilities but it is free! Stayed just off of lows. Not very much garbage or many dogs running around in this area. Also it's free!

Stayed at Slab City Hostel a few nights. Lots of interesting folks coming through, although not much going on in Slab City. You'll need to go into Niland for and and all supplies.

The hostel has space for camping, vans, and probably smaller RVs inside the gates. Chemical toilets, cold showers, and some power available. There's a common kitchen and fridge as well.

Mad Max meets Into the Wild... Interesting and large place. You dont find that many lawless areas left in California. You can pretty much do what you want here. Dogs run wild everywhere. No facilities like toilets or showers. There is a solar charging station for phones. A cool sculpture garden/street art area called East Jesus. There is a nightclub made out of buses open on Saturdays and a jam session on Thursday afternoons at another small place. A bit of garbage blowing around. Pull up and have a good time.
