Wow. We were really excited to stay here. It’s so beautiful! No one was here when we arrived this afternoon. However, around 6:30pm a guy drove up and walked up to our door and started berating us that we were parked in his spot…claiming his tent was in the woods. He appeared drunk. The entire parking area was open - it was just us. Super uncomfortable. We just decided to leave. Wasn’t worth escalating the situation. So bummed this guys ruined the spot for us.

Amazing camping down at this end of the road! Road in is rough but no 4x4 or high clearance needed.

Such a gorgeous place to camp. Mountain views with copious creeks, streams, and some lakes up the trail. So many dispersed camping spots, it's hard to imagine filling this place up. There's a pit toilet at the very end of the road, up by the Blue Lake trailhead, but we found it easier to just go LNT in the woods. The one drawback is the road in. It doesn't require 4x4, but it is 7.5 miles of washboard/pitted dirt road. If you don't have a Jeep, you'll be going 10mph through sections of it. It was worth it once. I may need to bring a different vehicle if I come back (I had a high top Sprinter).

Nice camping at the end of County Road 7 just after entering Uncompahgre National Forest. Nice view to Sneffel Range with an immense amount of fall color around.
