Iran
Supposedly the second biggest citadel in Iran - after Bam. You can climb the walls and wander around through town. People still live inside the citadel, it’s like walking through history. No entrance fee.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This is a worthy detour on the way between Isfahan and Yazd. Really nice place. We were greeted by a bunch of very loud pre-teens that offered us a free tour of the citadel and all the hidden spots ("there's a scary dog there!" "look, a well!" "here, this was a house!", but all in farsi of course!).
