This little pulloff for fishermen looks like a good spot for one night. It's protected from the highway by a slope and trees. Probably some decent fishing if you're up to it. The six or seven picnic areas have been overrun by grass but they are still useable.

Would not Sleep here.
We stopped to cook dinner. It is way overgrown and just under the highway bridge. While we were cooking a hunger National Guard vehicle parked opposite of us under the bridge and as we were leaving there was a State Trooper vehicle at the entrance/exit. This is obviously a busy place and I would not recommend trying to sleep there.
as soon as we pulled up National guard was on use. allowed us to stay the night under their watchful eye just across the creek. night crew didn't inform day crew so we were awoke by 2 soldiers with M-16s in the morning. Not a pleasant experience, but you can stay here. last resort, I would drive a little further (west) to Pecos River Rest Area (no bathrooms there) for a more peaceful nights stay.
Report Check-InNice spot but very close to border so heavy LEO presence - Border Patrol. Nice creek, water looks nice.
