Description

UPDATE Sep 2019: place is under new administration after Emilio got fired. New administrator is hostile and the new price scheme is confusing (per person plus per vehicle minus discounts depending apparently on the whim of the administrator), resulting in a *much* higher price of about 3x what it was before.

Aug 2016: Open again after recent closure for renovations.

Electricity, cold showers, swimming pool, bathrooms, WiFi and grill. Each space is on gravel, with a cabana, table, light, water tap and power outlet. 10,000 chilean pesos per car, does not matter how many people. Quiet and peaceful (mid-week). If the gate is locked during the day, come back in the late afternoon when Emilio is home at the campsite.
Very secure, would be a good place to leave your truck if you need to.

We loved this place !Clean and quiet. great for big rigs. pool, bathroom, shower (cold) electricity, water

Report Check-In

Grands espaces, piscine, électricité, eau.
Pas d’ombre pour les fourgon/ camping car, sauf à aller sous le hangar, ce que nous avons fait. 20 000 pesos pour 1 fourgon et 2 personnes.

Report Check-In

Easy access for big rigs! A lot of space for rvs and motor homes with pool and clean bathrooms

The owner was very friendly!

Everthing is working! There's mobile number at entrance if needed

Report Check-In

Great camping spot. 10000 for 2 people in a van. Very clean and tidy. No wifi when we stayed.

Report Check-In

Nice spacious campground as previously described by planet overland. We paid 10,000 for 2 people in our van. Very friendly guy at the office, Phillipo.

Report Check-In

Place is great! Super clean and quiet. But I should say was great. In the morning the lady in charge came to tell us that her bas was fired by the army and then we saw trucks of chilean army arriving in the camping. So we had to leave 2 hours later. And we saw all the staff starting to clean the camping and removing their stuff. So I guess it is close for now...

Report Check-In

Spent a few weeks here getting all sorts of matters solved in Arica before a planned travel to Peru. Was a great place until the then-administrator, Don Emilio, got fired by the campground owners and all guests were forced to leave in the very same morning under the allegation that the campground was being shut down. An acquaintance that later in that same day returned to the campground was told by the new administrator that it was open again, but the prices were then 3x higher. Thanks, but no thanks.

Report Check-In

Great place to camp in Arica. Outside the main part of the city so quiet and peaceful. Very clean facilities, but cold water showers and no toilet paper (fortunately we always have TP). We paid 10,000 Pesos per night for two people in one vehicle.
As mentioned there is electricity and lights at each site, along with an asado, shaded area, picnic table, and water tap. Children’s playground, swimming pool, soccer pitch, and communal building. Large sinks for washing dishes between Emilio’s house and camp sites. Gravel level spaces - probably 6 of them, plus one cabaña for rent.

Report Check-In

This place is great! Emilio is a very nice person and the camping has everything that you could need! Don't miss it!!!

Report Check-In

Recommend! Best camping in Arica. Cold showers but clean. Friendly owner. Swimmingpool.

Agree with previous comments but will add: Don't sit on the same side of the picnic table or it will flip! Happened to us and the neighbors 😂

Report Check-In

The campground is closed from today10th till 20th January for maintenance

Report Check-In

campground is still as mentioned above. big, clean, safe and during the week very quiet. Emilio is super nice and helpful. We could leave our tent for one night without paying while driving up to Putre with our motobikes.
Note: Campground will be closed from 10th of january until 3rd of february 2019 because of vacation.

A pleasant upgrade from Indo Arica at the same price (CHP 10,000). Much nicer bathroom with clean showers (cool water, not frigid). The camp sites are well protected from the wind and have electricity, a roof over the picnic table, and even WiFi (at least our site, the closest one to the bathrooms, does). Lots of locals using the pool during this warm Saturday, but we are the only campers.

Report Check-In

I drove by the other campsites, but found this one the most attractive. Pitches are large, with a roof that provides shadow. Toilets and showers are basic, but clean. I spent a very quiet Saturday evening here. The few Chilean families were very kind and not noisy at all.

When we arrived at 4 pm, the gate was closed. Because of the comments below we waited until 6 pm, but no one came so we left and went to another camping.

Report Check-In

The campground has a pool, barbecure benches and nice facialis. Nothing special but we realy liked it.
The owner is a super nice guy. He is helping you out where ever he can. We did'nt have enough chilenen money, but it was no problem to pay the rest in soles.

Report Check-In

Well kept camping. Showers and toilets ok clean and working, showers lukewarm, but in the heat perfectly fine. Pool to cool down and every sitio with sun shelter. Walls for wind protection, all fenced and locked during night. Every sitio with benches/table, light, electricity and water. Dish washing sink available. Close to border, quiet place and friendly owner. Price per sitio CLP 10‘000 no matter how many persons.

Report Check-In

normaly not bad place, but nobody cares when a chilinien family started a bbq party with realy very, very noisy music. Cold shower, and only temporary working wifi, so over all we ware not so happy.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Good place to stay before crossing the border to Peru. Because it was so hot the cold shower was o.k.

Report Check-In

Looked like a nice spot, the owner was in the city when we arrived. A nice family told us he would be back in an hour so we killed some time but he didn't return. It was getting late so we left to find something else. Very nice place though thanks!

Report Check-In

Still only 10000 per van inc electricity. Large spaces and friendly, helpful owner. Quiet.

Report Check-In

Good points: Lots of space, peaceful (mid-week), nice pool area. Emilio is exceptionally friendly and helpful. He helped us arrange delivery of our new tyres and found guys to run around town to get parts for our truck. Really helpful; would have taken us days (or weeks) to find everything without their help. BUT the site isn't great: very bad wi-fi, showers only cold, rubbish around the camp-spots. $10,000 per night is a bit steep for the facilities, but if you want peace and value a nice pool, it might be worth it.

Report Check-In

Back here again after a 2 month hiatus from the road. Quiet place to sleep off the jetlag. The price had gone up to 10,000 total per night for 2 people in a 4runner.

Report Check-In

Open again. 8000per night for two people and our 4runner. Nice facilities, cold showers. Happy we chose to stay here. Also, vehicle storage is available here. Emilio quoted us 4000pesos per day, and will negotiate for longer periods of time. It seemed very safe and a reliable spot.

FYI: Emilio said water was potable, but the water they have here in the north is very heavy in minerals and not very tasty. It can cause stomach upsets in some people. Many locals drink bottled water.

Report Check-In

Beautiful camping site only 2 kilometers away from the pacific ocean. It has cabanas, camping spots with grills and sun cover for vehicles, swimming pool, swings, wi-fi, electricity, potable water and bathrooms with cold showers. We were here last year and loved it since it was quiet at night during week days and a little noisier on weekends. Unfortunately and this is bad news for all of us overlanders ,when we arrived Emilio (the administrator) told us that the camping was closed and not accepting new campers because they were undergoing renovations. This will continue until September at least. Emilio recommended another camping site called Josefina which is already posted in ioverlander. Emilio said he would keep us posted on updated so stay tuned.

Report Check-In

Very good camping. Trully the best we've ever been. Great wifi and swimming pool. Payed 12000 CHP on April 1st.
Anything you want you can ask Emilio, who runs the place. Very friendly and simpatic man, who helped us a lot!

NOTE: SOMETIMES EMILIO HAS TO GO TO THE CITY, SO WHEN HE IS OUT THE CAMPING REMAINS CLOSED, SO YOU HAVE TO WAIT OR COME BACK LATER WHEN EMILIO IS IN IT. HE LIVES IN THERE SO THE CAMPING IT'S OPEN ALL THE DAYS OF THE YEAR. EMILIO IS A VERY KIND PERSON, THE BEST WE HAVE MET!!

Childrens party!! Inflatable castels, etc. Happy! Clown music on max. volume. On a tuesday. Too much, so we went to Camping Indo Arica. Two days later we came back for the WiFi (too slow and almost nobody there). Campground is a big gravel lot surrounded by concrete walls. They made on one side a few shady places. Nice swimmingpool, cold showers. Take a look first before you decide to stay.

Report Check-In

Great spot....but crowded on weekends. Paid 8000 for both of us on bike.....bring food as no tiendas here.
