Very nice free spot where we spent 3 nights. We stayed on the niveled grassy area at the end of the parking lot and no one bothered us. Direct view on the river in which you can refresh. The entire city is accessible by foot.

Dos noches tranquilas en San Ignacio, Amplio parqueo publico, sin persona de seguridad, a un lado del mercado, durante el día algunos buses se estacionan, durante la noche muy fresco y silencioso, del otro lado del río vienen familias a pasar el día..

Great camping spot! Lots of space, level, green grass, almost no trash. Relatively quiet in the day and completely silent at night. Gets nicely cool during the night. At San Ignacio market the other side, one can find fruits, veggies, breakfast and more. Noone bothered us. Definitely recommended.

Amazing spot for free on the river just beside the main market. Clean, quiet and felt save!

Wanted to camp in my truck but there’s a homeless guy living there, and found a lynched cat hanging from a tree.. did not stay but went to Hode’s place down the road instead

Gratis.

We slept across the river. There is a lot of shade to park, there are no buses entering or leaving and very clean. Locals during the day come to hang out but very quiet at night. The cops arrived at 21h saying there was no problem and that they will check several times at night checking everything is ok. Free.

Location as described. Was a bit worried about crossing the small wooden bridge, but the city buses cross, so ok. stayed here one night and was parked for 2 days. Cops drove past at 2:30 in the morning but they didn't stop. Relatively quiet once the sun goes down. Not much shade unless you park where all the town buses park. I prefered a little more privacy but area has garbage. Parked here in a 25' Class C towing a car.

EDIT : Was in the process of moving out when guy came by and said that I had to take to some woman from town council and pay to park here. Said parking was paid by the hour. Sounded like a hustle to me. Told him no problem I was moving and I wouldn't pay to park when I could park elsewhere for free. Please remember that I am an easy target bieng so large. Someone in a small van or vehicle may have no problems.

police came by at 8pm and insisted that it was too dangerous to stay, suggesting I move to Hode's Place up the road. this didn't appear to be optional so I complied!

Report Check-In

Technically everything as described below but at 2 am police stepped by saying the place is dangerous and we should move our car in front of the market place, which is guarded. We didn't fallow their recommendacion. We had a peaceful night and felt safe.

Everything ok. Police came to check if we're alive at 5:00am. Some guys hanging out, fishing, picking bottles since morning. No problem. Fruit falling from the big tree.

We slept for 4 nights here. Well. It exactly here, at the other side of the river, on the left, BEFORE de bridge.

It was calm and nice.

nice spot across from the market. dark and quiet. police stopped by to check in and said we were fine to camp, but we should lock our doors. we felt safe. they charge $2 bz for parking on Saturday due to the market. great to walk to the market for breakfast then have a dip in the river. lots of birds, beware of falling figs in April.

Wide open lot next to the river, camped in our van one night, no problems, but local police did come talk to us at 10pm, said we were ok.

Report Check-In

We parked there for two nights. Very quiet and in front together the water. The police went to check the van on the first night at around 10pm. They asked for our i.ds and then left without a problem. We saw them make a round again around 12.

We stayd here one night after crossing the boarder guatemala-belize pretty late.

We get controlled two times
the first time at 00:45 from the army but just a short one and at 01:30 from the police, they controlled everything: passports, license, insurance and looked also around in the car, they were not the friendliest 🙈

but the rest of the night was quiet 😂

Was nice hanging out at the river. Police came at 3am but was nice. Just wanted to check what the car was doing there :-)

Report Check-In

Nice overnight parking right next to river where we took some cool swims to cool down. Police and military arrived at 3am checking on us and didn't really like our open door policy (due to warm night to catch some river breeze). Good for one night before crossing border to Guatemala. Market just around the corner with one piña for 3blz and 20 bananas for 2blz.

Report Check-In

free parking lot on market place OR a piece of land just near the river (rigth after the bridge when going to Guatemala).
Nous avons dormi sur l'espace en terre juste à droite après le pont en direction du Guatemala. Il y a de la place pour plusieurs camping-cars. Les locaux viennent aussi ici se ravitailler en eau à la rivière.
