It is illegal to camp overnight in this and the neighboring parking lots. Signs clearly state it on way in. Park rangers are increasing enforcement because of miss use.

As described above. There was room for several vehicles and there were two other car campers that night. A ranger showed up around 7 am to take out the trash, but otherwise it was nice and quiet. There’s some short hikes down to the coast.

Spot with great views of the ocean and sun set. It is the pull out on the dirt road (many pit holes) to the trail head. Right after the bird watching area and before the main parking of the trail head. There is a sign at the main parking that camping is only possible with permit, but in the morning a ranger stopped and didn’t say anything. Really quiet.
