We discussed and explained we travel with children and make the police man laugh so he let us pass finally.
To be more concrete:
There is one police checkpoint when you leave Mafinga in the direction of Mbeya.
It is a bit after the build up ends, keep driving 50 km/h.
Outside Mafinga is a stretch of road (several km) marked as high accident area, no overtaking and 50 km/h again.
Another police check point at the end of this stretch.
If you resist to overtake, and keep to the speed limit, you will be fine!
The official fine is 30.000 Tsh, not USD!
A bribe is 5.000 or 10.000 Tsh!
