Peru
The bridge is partially collapsed in the middle and support underneath is washing away. To us it looks the river is currently too high to drive through it so we took the risk and crossed. It was pretty sketchy. A local person came by and asked us not to use that bridge because they want to preserve it for light local use for as long as possible. He said there’s another bridge east (we assume past the town) and everyone to use that one instead. Please respect wishes of the locals! And our mistake; we were not aware of the other bridge. It does not appear as though this bridge will be repaired anytime soon.

Good news! Bridge has been rebuilt. Makes me happy as I think the river crossing would have been doable in my Kombi but prefer to not have to test it.
Report Check-InDon’t even take this road if you are not 4x4 and high clearance. The best way to pass is not on the direct left of the broken bridge but further left by 10 m cutting across the broader part of the river. We measured and it’s 0.5m at the highest part. Have fun and take care guys
Report Check-InBridge was gone entirely other than the footings. No sign of any construction. We were fortunate that water was easily low enough to drive through. Area is fairly level and wide so with decent exploration it should not be tough to get across unless it is really high rain. Road is not horrible. We did it 2 up on an Africa twin. It would be a long turnaround if the whater were too high. Views were great
Report Check-InDo not take this road it’s the worst rocky pothole filled road in SA. You can cross the river in Caylloma but I advise to drive all the way around using the PE-34E. The road from caylloma to sibayo is also a pothole hell.
