iOverlander cannot verify if wild camping is permitted at this location. It is your responsibility to verify local laws or obtain consent before staying the night.
Right behind a parking lot and stalls where locals sell jewellery there is a space for few vehicles including 2/3 spots further below which should be hidden from vehicles coming down the main road. There is still a bit of traffic until 9:30pm but it then gets quiet and you get unbeatable views on the monument valley both at sunset and sunrise.

Threatened to call police.
this place is sincerely beautiful. We got fantastic photos and it was super cool to stay except...
we got there in the evening before sunset. Man named Curtis was selling Jewelry at the stand and we chatted with him, looked at his Jewelry he was selling. He asked if we were staying and that it was $20. Husband asked if there would be a deal if we bought from him. He seemed pleasant and said yes. We paid 40$ for a necklace, bracelet and to stay the night. presumably 20 for necklace, 10 for bracelet and 10 to stay.
Then at 2am, we got a knock. Man who looked identical to Curtis said it cost $10 to stay there. We said we already paid, he said no we needed to pay him. His name is Henson and it's not Curtis's land. He was pretty sharp from the get go and maybe we should have just paid but we were startled being woken in the middle of the night. He said if we didn't pay he'd call the cops. So we left instead and found an easy spot to park even at night 20 minutes down the road.
I find it very odd that he only asked for $10 when everyone else said they ask for $20. Almost like he knew we had already paid $10. Honestly we would have just paid the $20 on top of the Jewelry if he'd said so, to avoid any hassle. I dont have a problem supporting the Navajo/locals and the experience was worth it for a single night but I'm unsure if that would have avoided the problem or not. I don't know which brother you're "supposed" to pay to avoid issues. And you may be woken in the middle of the night to pay no matter what. I saw there were brothers and one said you shouldn't pay his brother but I didn't realize they'd both ask for $. It's a bit too confusing to be worth the stay imo.
Was going to stay here but the old man knocked on our window and begged for 20$ then left
Report Check-Inwatched the sunset here but ultimately had to leave because the man who owns the land came and talked to me. he was super nice and and said if i wanted to sleep here he charges campers $20. thought about it but i’m cheap so i moved on.
Report Check-InWild camping on reservation land without a permit is illegal and you are subject to a ticket or arrest for trespassing. This is on Navajo land. Please obtain a permit and explicit permission for your campsite when on tribal land.
Report Check-InWe stopped at this spot for night and the owner of this land visited us and explained that everyone who wants to stay over night must pay. He asked for $20. We paid. Later visited us another guy, introduced himself as his brother and told us that we shouldn't pay to his brother. He was talking about right-of-way, that everyone can stop and stay over night there, next to the highway without any charge or fee. I really don't know who is right, but be prepared that someone will try to charge you there for staying over night. Both brothers were friendly to us.
Report Check-Inthis is the park at forest Gump point, there is a little store on the car park. beautiful view on monument valley. please be respectful to keep it free
Report Check-InSuper beautiful place with a great view. It is on private land though and the owner passes by either in the evening or in the morning. You can sleep there no problem, just give the owner a small donation. He uses the money to feed his stock that he farms 2 mile from this place. We gave him 15 dollar and had a very nice chat. He is very nice so please be respectful!
Report Check-InThis place is beautiful. But be respectful! You are on Navajo Nation land. Pick-up trash and leave nothing behind. I filled a garbage bag with other peoples garbage.
Report Check-InWe arrived here around 1 AM and our intention was to shoot sunrise before the crowds came in. Sunrise was at 7 am. We were there with only 2 other cars. There was noise from the main road but that was because we literally parked right next to the main road since we couldn’t find the area behind the stalls (it was way too dark). Minimal cars drove by. I probably heard or saw 3 cars from 1 to 7 am. THIS IS WHERE THE FORREST GUMP POINT IS!!! Beautiful sunrise. I can imagine that if you came earlier, someone would be patrolling this place but since we came so late, we had zero issues.
Report Check-InAs described. Spectacular views. Can hear the road but with views like this totally worth spending the time
Report Check-Inwe stayed one night here. arrived about 830pm and it was pretty quiet. didn't have any issues. lots of cars turned up for sunrise though.
Report Check-InAmazing spot! Only for a couple of vehicles. Beatiful view of the Monument Valley. Quiet at night. Nobody bothered us. Stayed two nights. We were alone
Report Check-In22 feet RV no problem! Few meters down the gravel road very calm and cosy.
Update: private property? We have been asked for 15 $ per person for overnight parking/camping
