Report Check-In

Campground with small fee. America the beautiful pass accepted. Potable and water and dump station available

Report Check-In

bargain campground! if you are in a rig that fits in a regular parking spot, $7 tent site gets you a great site with trash, water, table, fire ring, views, hikes, shower. the shower was hot, but they kind where you have to push the button every 10 seconds. some sites available to reserve, some fcfs. great spot

Report Check-In

We can in around 6pm, and most of the full hookups were taken. Plenty of dry spots were available though, and it’s absolutely beautiful here. Only $12 for dry site

What an amazing campground! We arrived after dark and randomly chose site #18 as the first open spot. The views are so beautiful. So many stars. There is so much space between campsites. The bathrooms are big and clean, showers are hot. Very quiet. We will plan to come again.

Report Check-In

incredible site. #18 is the one to have for truck camping. amazing sunset and sunrise. showers closed for the season. host on site is very nice. bathrooms are clean. several rvs parked in rv sites, but around the corner is quiet and empty

Report Check-In

Plenty of campsites overlooking lava flow. All campsites appear to be paved but not level. Unfortunately the showers were closed, so the only facilities available were pit toilets

Report Check-In

Easy road in. Several spots are First Come First serve, but today we had a choice of 4. We chose spot 8. It's across from the bath house, but the views are amazing. Just scan the QR code with the Rec.gov app and it's super easy..

Report Check-In

OMG, well maintained, paved roads, and clean hot showers, with amazing views

Report Check-In

Amazing views! Very clean and the nicest camp host we have met. Try to reserve a spot before you get there if you can. Walk the lava trail and walk up the small hill and watch the sunset.

Report Check-In

Not bad. nice view of the lava flows. arrived in April on a Thursday and only 1 site left at 3pm. they vary from $6 for a tent site to $18 for electric/water. Free showers for guests or $6 if not staying there. Nice stop before heading into White Sands.

Report Check-In

Dispersed site $12 night...water and dump available. Showers, flush toilets and vault toilets...Quiet but windy. Fills up around 6pm at night

Report Check-In

crowded on weekends. came back mid week and found a spot. windy

Report Check-In

Beautiful campground, nice views and stats sky.

Report Check-In

Got here on a Saturday afternoon and ended up getting spot 19, which has a huge turnaround and totally level, unlike some other spots. Best views of all the camps in my opinion, but also the windiest spot. Good hiking, nice hot showers, great cell signal. $12 a nite for non hookups $18 with. First come, first served til mid April, then you can reserve spots. Would stay again!

I know, I know, another gorgeous place in NM. Amazing views! One of the prettiest campgrounds in NM ( I used to live in this state). I am surprised few posts mentioned the incredible PAVED, 1 1/2 mile nature trail running throughout the lava beds and desert lands. If you like geology and SW botany, you will love this. Easy walkable pathway, ADA, plenty of (faded) placards to decipher. What a great bonus!

Many sites, all with covered tables, grills, fire pits, flat parking pads, and a trash can at EVERY site. Pretty open, really windy, and unprotected but NM at it’s finest. Did Zo mention that it is windy? We had 35 ph winds. Sunny, blue skies for ever. Bathrooms with flush toilets and showers as well as super clean vault toilets throughout.

Report Check-In

pros: beautiful area! we enjoyed exploring. very quiet, all campers kept to themselves. if you want a more secluded spot, head all the way down before you hit the tent only camps and there's 2 spots that are farther away from each other!

cons: soooo windy here! not sure if it's the season or just NM but it was hard to be outside. the wind slowed down towards the evening.

no showers! they're closed for covid.

Report Check-In

bathrooms and showers closed right now...you know...the covid thing. vault toilets open and very clean...for vault toilets. as described, also 30 miles from 3 rivers petroglyphs. a day trip can get you to white sands np, too. Gorgeous sun sets and sun rises.

Report Check-In

Showers were closed. If it weren’t so late, we would have moved on.

Great little park, $18 for electric and water, nice views and great stars, gets windy, bathrooms are huge and very clean, feels very safe. No snakes or wildlife to be seen this time of year.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campground with an awesome trail through the lava fields. Hot showers and potable water. It was pretty buggy and very windy at night. There's a tent camping area toward the back of the campground so don't be afraid to head further back.

Report Check-In

Nice. Hot showers! The serviced sites are a quite open and exposed, but with the view. The tent sites at the end of the road are sheltered and more private.

NPR at 88.5.

Pulled in right around sunset, it was beautiful overlooking the lava fields. There are envelopes in the box when you pull in and by the main bath house. Cash or check accepted and you put it in the envelope and then keep the stub. Very quiet and dark. Stars were beautiful at night! Also, showers are nice and you can lay $6 to use them if you’re just stopping through and not staying the night.

We loved this little campground. Moderately busy for January but was quiet. You get some noise from the hwy. Sites are well spaced. though not very private. Great little nature trail, especially for kids.

Beautiful lava fields and overlooks of the valley, staying towards the back of the park. Perfect weather at 5,200ft, just very windy in the afternoon. I will stay here past Memorial day.

Cool place. We didn’t camp but were able to shower. They charge a flat day rate for day use. Showers are included in the day use price. I attached a photo of the price list.
