Wild, dispersed camping. Bring a shovel. Nice and quiet, beautiful views and you can walk to see some healthy Joshua Trees. Must have a permit to build a campfire. Decent Verizon coverage

truly beautiful area! a bit of a drive to get to from the main road but totally worth it.
we came in late at night because the campground down the street was full. so glad we did because we had this entire valley to ourselves.
Report Check-InEnd of the road to the right, huge pullout area with some established fire rings. Nice and flat, total solitude on a weekday. Beautiful views and the weather was perfect. Be respectful of tent campers as there are limited spots off the road to the clearing.
Report Check-InWhen you pull onto chimney creek rd, you’ll see a few pull offs with signage that each fit a single vehicle. We kept driving, found a road off to the right that immediately forked with a fence and gate to the left, and more open space to the right. We went to the right and pulled our van around the little loop. No one joined us for the 20 hours we were there, but there were a few vehicles who drove by at a distance. We passed by and spoke to a BLM employee who told us to enjoy our stay, which was encouraging and reassuring. The spot was fantastic! Beautiful views, air, vegetation, and silent isolation. Based on previous we expected coyotes, but we didn’t see or hear any. It definitely got windy at night, so tents might not be ideal. Highly recommend!
Report Check-InRoad is in great shape. Go to the end and take the large spot by the "river". I think someone lives further up the road east because I saw a gate. They drove by and waved when I was at the spot so no worries. Saw some coyotes. The other iOverlander spot by the "trailhead" sucks. It's not even a spot or a trailhead. Stay here instead. Then you can either drive up the mtn to hike PCT or go over to Walker Pass. Either way short drive. Great spot, very little traffic.
Report Check-InNice open spot, my Prius made it without any issues. No service on Tmobile, ATT and Verizon work but slow, even with my cell booster.
Report Check-InBeautiful area.
We didn't stay over night due NO Verizon coverage. Seems that there is no cell service as our phones didn't even roam.
