A cool place to drive thru a whole bunch of wierd shaped rocks that look like animals and stuff... some more that others. We were told it is OK to camp here and it was pretty awesome. Plenty of big rocks for shelter and easy access. It has a turnout off the highway with a tourist sign showing you a map of all the rocks and what animal they are supposed to look like. It also looks like a shrine from the highway. Far enough from the highway to be quiet at nite. Free. No facilities. There is a big flat area closer to the road and a road up by the poweroles that big rigs can find a good place to camp.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Good for one night. Not possible to find a wind protection with roof tent. But quiet (if you unthink the trucks on highway) No signal.
Report Check-InOne night here with tent and motorbike. Many spots hidden from Ruta 5. Some locals stopped for picture at late evening and early morning, but they didn’t bothered. Noise from traffic ruta 5 at night (especially trailers). Normal Chileano view-toilet papers everywhere. So sad! Also rubbish near the dustbin close to main road. Really can’t understand it why the rubbish outside the dustbin . Safe.
Report Check-InGreat spot, sunset by the sea and stargazing at night. We'll definitely be sleeping here on our way back. Loved the rock animals!
Report Check-InStopped here on our way south but could not find a tourist map explaining which rock is supposed to look like what animal. The curious shapes are still interesting, but without any additional information they're just a bunch of weird rocks.
Report Check-InAwesome place with lots of place and rocks as shelter. We drove upper in the rocks. Wonderful sunset. No mice but some trash.
Report Check-InGreat spot for a camp. Drive deeper into the rocks and find a protected spot. We didnt see any mice
Report Check-InVery nice place. Found a big rock to park behind and had a very quiet and peaceful night. No 4WD needed.
I liked this place more than the beach in Playa Ingles. Seemed a lot more secure here
Nice place, drive up to the top, there are many poss. where you can stay. Some markers with animal signs.
Report Check-InReally nice and convenient place. Fun to drive around. We were visited by several mice in the evening (as everywhere in this area) and the next morning the whole area surrounding the car was covered with their cute little footprints. Not a problem for us but be careful with unprotected food in your car.
Report Check-InNice Spot. Tables close to the road but you can go further back if you want. The zoo is not to impressive as there are just like four five animals with signs. But the rocks are cool to climb a bit and you can mak up your own creatures.
