Latest Check-Ins

Came here at half past six in the morning, people working came immediately. As we didn’t booked in advance we had to wait endless for doing the reservation for a night in the camp. My recommendation: book in advance & send a mail to [email protected] :)
Prices:
entrance permit - 190 pula pppd
Vehicle permit - 75 pula pd
Campsite - 40 pula pppn

Report Check-In

now it is 40 pulas, but also you have to pay park fees and vehicles fees if you camp.

Despite you are staying one night in the park you have to pay 2 days now, even if you leave at 6 in the morning! This is what the ranger said!

We paid in VISA card.

Report Check-In

Not community run. Run by the parks department like all others. 30pula, Spent two nights here in between going into town to resupply as I was in the park for over 20 days.
3 sites available, 2 nice locations. Cleared bush area, or use the ablution building for shade and back up your photos etc like I did.
Negatives:
generator is run all night and is loud. First night I passed out, second night it annoyed me. Toilet block like all here is not functional, you can use the toilet inside and then flush with water from the tap outside (containers supplied to do so).
Cool:
Staff super friendly and informative (Frederick)
Male lion comes into camp most nights/early morning.
Elephant wanders in every few nights. Doesn’t cause problems.
Loads of birds around the water tank and taps, great for photos.
Quite a bit of wild life wandering around (Kudu etc)
Staff can phone the bookings office to try and make alterations etc
Apart from the generator I enjoyed the time here.
Note: allow 2 hours from Rakops and then another 2 hours to Deception valley. Sandy corrugations and lots of little rises and falls, like a roller coaster.

Didn’t stay here but were told it’s 30 Pula pppn. Right by the gate, inside the fence. Run by community.

Not a great campsite as there is no water (pump is broken for some time now) and there is a very loud generator just beside the campsite and yet there is no electricity or lights on the campsite. Strangely, when I went to pay the next morning (30 pula as told by 2 separate staff members), they had some internal discussion and concluded to tell me that should 'pay next time' and gave me my money back! Not sure what went on there but I'm not complaining for camping for free. ;-)

Report Check-In

Ablution block not working: no running water inside, very dirty. Should oay 20$ ppn which is much to expensive for what they offer
