We went through this and a gent came up to the vehicle and told us we had to pay 15 kw to pass. He had no uniform, or any ID whatsoever and couldn’t give any paperwork at all. I refused to pay until o had some ID or proof of who he was and what it was for . He refused to give his name and he got extremely aggressive and insulting and shouting at us . After taking his picture, he told us just to go through . It’s clearly a complete scam

Barrier is still up and the people want 50 Kw Council charge. Had a long discussion but did not pay.

Toll scam still here. No uniforms or ID. Just smile and drive through without paying.

Guys are still here trying to ask for money. We asked for ID they have none. We told them the road tax officer said there is no official toll here and they let us pass. Do not pay for this scam!

Gentleman in plain clothes, with no identification, demands money to drive on a road built by the central government. There is no accountability of where this money goes.
You have already paid 10 times the going rate for road tolls at the border.
Refuse to pay explaining it’s not an official government road toll booth, there are no official government signs, no uniform, no identification, no Zambian law quoted.
I could pass when he said I could ‘pay on the way back’ which is fine as not going back that way. Don’t pay for this scam.

The also asked us for 65kw but thanks to the information here we argued and they let us go without paying

We asked around and locals told us not to pay the fee. So we didn’t. The guy at the gate was pretty easy about it, just have a bit of a chat and eventually he’ll let you pass.

You can also just refuse to pay this toll. We did and informed dude that and we passed through. Pretty sure these are not legal just to rip visitors. So short-sighted.
