Description

Parking situated between two abandoned gas stations off I-40 at the Glenrio (North Side of 40). Pull behind the stations so you are out of sight. The sunset and sunrise were amazing. Aside from the interstate, we didn't see a soul. Back your rig facing the open scrub and take in the big sky. This spot is nothing but a unique sleepover spot.

Good place for overnight, lots of space to park, flat, almost no road noise, a little spooky at night, but in the day light the surrounding looks actually pretty cool. Some semi truck also stop here to rest. Felt safe👌

personally, I loved it. Much quieter than the rest stop/welcome center 1 mile down the road. The rest stop was a nice place to take a morning pit stop 💩 but be aware it's just minutes away.
10/10 cross-country van sleeping.

Great spot that is right off I-40. Two abandoned gas station out in the middle of nowhere at night can bring a bit of the spooky vibes if your into that if not a rest stop is about a mile west of here. Can park behind the gas station on the right for a little more privacy. Around 8 in the morning 2 truck divers back to back made a pit stop here to check tires etc.

Is this the gem? lol think we will go a little farther down the road.

This was a quick and easy exit off the highway. I was tired from driving all day and needed a place to stop and rest for the night. There was a semi truck parked across the way and we still had plenty of room to park away from the truck. The abandoned stores were neat looking at night.

Parked right in front for the night. Highway noise is there but more like background noise. Be careful of broken glass if you try to get behind the buildings. Stayed later than usual making breakfast no problems at all staying here. We were able to get water at the rest stop down the road but there are no amenities here. Just a place to park.

Great spot! Nothing around and the sunrise was nice! The previous review is incorrect though, a vehicle of literally any size and many of them can be parked here. What the previous reviewer was referring to was a particular gravel space you can pull into if you’d like. You also don’t have to try to hide behind the stations, no one is gonna bother you.

I pulled in here to stay but my 11 year old found it too spooky so we went up the road a few more miles to another spot

Not a bad spot for right off the highway. Better than the rest areas. No lights, lots of stars :)

As luck would have we found this jewel of a spot. Situated between two abandoned gas stations off I-40 at the Glenrio (North Side of 40). Pull behind the stations so your semi-out-of-sight. The sunset and sunrise was amazing. Aside from the interstate we didn't see a soul. Not recommendmed for anything larger than a small travel trailer or teardrop. Back your rig facing the open scrub and take in the big sky. This spot is nothing but a unique sleepover spot.
