We had a great time at this little campsite if you need a break! You'll get it here! A beach all to yourself. Only the seagulls want space too. So during the week/low season, no one there!

Report Check-In

I only stopped to throw out my trash but took the time to speak to the owner, super friendly 👍
No one around at this season.

A great little town and very tranquil bay, for us was definitely worth the detour from Ruta5. Ablutions had a chain through the gate when we were there but it only was wrapped around the padlocks not actually locked. Caretaker arrived each morning.
We had reasonable Engel 4g coverage most of the time.

Dormimos cinco noites aqui. Lugar lindo, de frente pro mar, grátis. Tem banheiro com chuveiro de água fria.

Report Check-In

Quiet place with several options for places to camp. The facilities were locked up our entire visit and no caretaker in sight. Interesting place to explore on bikes or foot. Best to plan on no amenities, just a place to park with ok 3G Movistar service.

Very nice place to camp. Was busy on the actual camping plateaux when we were there so we backed up to beach on the left of the building. No problem. Water for showers up to about 5pm-6pm but the caretaker fills empty bottles of water during the day so you can always do a bucket shower. Nice beach. Can be a strong current do not always safe for a dip. There's a nice small beach in a cove 200m following a track round the rocks at the end. We bought some fish from the caretaker, and have him a tip at the end of the 3 nights we stayed there. He keeps the bathrooms clean, fills the bottles and goes up and down the beach with a wheelbarrow picking up the trash from the uneducated a holes who sadly don't give a cr@p. Well worth a couple of nights.

The camping is fine, just above and set back a bit from the beach. Toilets, showers and water available, but not 100% of the time. The new upper road has difficult hair pin turns for large rigs. We'd recommend going into town, past the Theater and the carabineros, then take the track on the right side of the soccer field which will take you straight into the campsite. The town is building what looks like a nice Malecon that should be finished and opened in 2020. The town itself is not very interesting other than the old train station (an empty shell) and the theater (closed when we visited). The town is not a ghost town, it it's very much being lived in.

Nice campground with little trees along the sea side. The owner, municipalidad de Huara has installed good toilets, illumination and a person during the night. He is in charge of opening the toilets but was absent during the day (in October). For us an excellent place to visit this historic and beautiful place.

Ok. A gost town, not our favourite spot in N-Chile. But very calm this time of year. plenty of space, during our stay no facilities. But: many sealions playing in the 'bay' fun to watch. We stayed and made friends with the nice straydogs. Prob. not worth the detour...

good spot, no bathrooms when we stay. the next week, they open the new bathrooms. I don't recommend because the road to pisagua is to long (1hr) I recommend stay in Dolores camp. (next to route 5)

Free camping on the beach. No facilities. Some minor construction work near the empty buildings. Checked the frendly police who came by & all was ok. Quiet and save

Report Check-In

I did not spend the night here, very isolated, just filled up the water tank and went to near the village. There is no point of electricity.

Perfect. A great spot to overnight, lounge by the beach, check out local historical sites, and take a chilly dip in the ocean. In our 4x4 truck we explored Pisagua Viejo, the Cemetary, the other iOverlander camp site, the track up above the point, and the the track that heads down the coast northbound across the riverbed.... beautiful area! All easy with our vehicle. Wouldn’t need 4x4 with a normal sized vehicle. Also met local police and fishermen. All incredibly welcoming. There IS gas in town... I added spot on iOverlander.

Nice tranquil spot with a little beach.
Best option to camp much nicer than in town.

Great site 1km outside of town - well sign posted. The 'guard' showed up shortly after we arrived and asked a few questions in Chilean..... I had no idea what he was asking. However, a bit later I asked for the bathroom keys and he was happy to oblige for a voluntary donation (I gave 4,000). The site was quiet and clean and the police checked on us around dark. The town is really something to check out as well - the empanadas were very good and unique. A recommended stay.

Friendly welcome. Can charge phone in bathroom on plugs. An interesting place to explore - a bit of civic pride (rare). Quite a lot of vocal sea birds.

cool camping area right in front of the beach! beautiful sunsets...
there was a guard who told us we can stay here and was kind enough to unlock bathrooms for us to use during our stay! we were the only ones camping here, so it is very quiet.

Report Check-In

Facilities are locked tight, but not required. It's a lovely quiet spot for a night or two. Plenty of people in tents. We parked out on the ruin of a building and had our own private seafront with the nesting birds. Magic. When in town you might want to pay a visit the graveyard at the north end of town - this is where they found mass unmarked graves after the Pinochet regime ended.

Nice beach (we saw no camping facilities but it's free) and interesting village/area to visit. Its an easy drive and well worth the detour from the Panama.
