Shell truck stop | Informal Campsite

We arrived around 11pm. It's a huge parking lot. Thete were some trucks and 2-3 RVs. Great spot for one night, we felt safe.

A little bit loud because of the road nearby.

Station has showers, but we didn't use them.

edit, I posted about the dogs in my last comment. part of the feeling unsafe is we are two women travels sleeping in the back of a subaru, so we get scared easily. it's pretty quiet and if you are not easily spooked, probably safe. lots of semis overnighting.

got here at 1030. large lot, very dark. inside the gas station is kinda sketchy, dirty. didn't feel super safe. also some very cute dogs came up to the car that we thought were strays. I asked the cashier and they apparently belong to someone living near the station. a German Shepard female and another large black dog. I gave her some food. California has the highest number of kill shelters in the country. in some portions of the state there are no no-kill shelters at all. if you find a stray please do not bring it to a shelter unless it is no kill. unless they look sick or emaciated, it might be best to leave them where they are as sad as it is.

Good for a night, diesels might roll in very early (if you’re a light sleeper). Other than that, no issues.
