Camped here for a few days. mostly the only person here, some hikers come by during the day, they were all friendly and didn't seem to have a problem with me being here. Beautiful forest. Right off the hwy so you will definitely hear that.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot tucked out of sight of the road. Only downside is it's close enough to the road that you definitely hear occasional cars passing at night.
I hadn't heard of Backus Woods before, but it's the largest remaining tract of old-growth Carolinian forest in Ontario. So walking through the woods is highly recommended, and be aware that it's a sensitive protected wetland.
Report Check-InWinter accessible wild camping with large parking lot—no amenities—parking area next to excellent trailhead for day hiking.
Report Check-InWild camped just south of GPS coordinates (edge of forest/pumpkin patch due to excessive muddy terrain)… Hunter and ATV’s during day, but undisturbed and quiet evening. A great place to day hike.
Report Check-InJust waking up from our first night at this spot, what a great find! We're the only ones here, will probably drive over to Long Point Park today (15 mins tops) and come back for a second night! The area is super private, full shade, and the trails are well-maintained. Forested, so LOTS of bugs, make sure you have repellent. Noise from the road did keep me up a bit overnight, but not too bad.
Report Check-InVery nice and quiet spot, might be a little hard to see the entrance at night.
We spent a night here and shared this spot with a neighbour.
Report Check-InNice little spot, stayed here a couple different nights. Always quiet, usually only one parked here
Just be careful on the trails, ticks are really bad here
Report Check-InNo problem parking our 27 ft RV .
It was a quiet spot. We stayed overnight . Perfect location if your agenda includes hiking ( entrance is right there) and hanging around Long Point beaches which is 7 km away from this spot.
Beautiful quiet spot I stayed one night and was the only one there. Spent the day hiking and exploring the area. Trails are well maintained.
Report Check-InWild camping, great for one or two nights. Really quiet place and beautiful. No amenities.
Report Check-Ingood spot just off the road to park. good for overnight parking also. time for a hike? your right there
Report Check-InVery nice place. Quiet and just off the road. We were the o my ones there. Our sprinter van fit well.
Report Check-InReal nice spot just off the road. Stayed with our van overnight. Another RV showed up. Real chill nothing fancy. Could have hiked in the morning. But it was raining pretty hard so we just chilled in the van and binged podcasts till we passed out.
Report Check-InWe adored this location. Getting in off the road is a little tight for our 23ft RV but there is great turn around room once you reach the parking area. Very quiet, very little road noise, and lots of birds in the morning. By the early morning we heard two cars pull in for early morning hikes but everyone was very quiet and respectful. Attached to a great trail network. Loved it here and would stay again.
Report Check-InVery nice space in the forest for parking and spending the night at the beginning of a trail.
