Be very careful, once you pass the 1st couple of campsites it turns into a sandbox. I had to dig out my 28 foot, 30k lbs skoolie and back it out to the entrance.

Awesome place, super quiet. I was the only one out there on a Wednesday night in May. It was cloudy so didn't get to see much of the stars, but it was super dark. Great sunset, strong winds all night. Roads get more sandy and rocky the further up you go, but the spots right near the highway should be accessible to any car. Had to climb near the top of a rock to get 3G with Verizon, otherwise SOS only or no service. Hardly any traffic on the highway. Recommended!

Amazing place to camp, easy access from rest area for 2x4, but if you have 4x4, go up as high towards the tepuis, the view is spectacular! And there's a bit of spotty, slow cell service. All the tracks in the sand can be confusing, easiest to get up is when it's light. Scout if unsure, it's only a couple 100 meters...

Trashy when you enter but gets way better the further up you go

Close to road but very quiet at night. Nice mountains. Garbage bin. No cell. Starlink good.

Cools off in the evening, 78 f at 1830, slight breeze. Road goes back quite a way off the highway.

Report Check-In

There’s a wire gate blocking the entrance, but you can easily open and close it behind you. Just remember to pick up after yourself. No Verizon service.

Beautiful area! Endless options for campsites, although finding a level area can be tricky.

Appeared to be access to the land on both sides of the highway.

Keep the area clean, and your impact as low as possible, so this spot can stay open.

** VAN got STUCK $525 to get towed out ** please be careful if you camp here! My toyota sienna mini van got stuck in the sand and the nearest tow is 2hrs away so it was super expensive to get help! Not to
mention there is no cell service so i stood on the side of the road with a sign to wave down help. Local sheriff was super nice and said people get stuck here ALL the time! I would honestly just camp some where else and not risk it!

Very quiet and peaceful place. Lots of free campsites in the sand, I’m alone. Watching the stats is awesome. No sign on the road, the entry is at the end of the little leave are asking the highway 50.

Easy to access, near the main road but very quiet. Be careful not to get stuck in the sand.

Nice peaceful site. Great West view of Wheeler peak across the valley. Spectacular sunrise against peaks. camping just behind the rest area. Trash cans along side road at this rest pull over.

Report Check-In

Very quiet, an easy network of BLM roads.

Report Check-In

Great place with some shade from the evening sun. Watched a full moon rise. No one else here. Very little road noise. Loose sand at most of the upper sites but hard packed closer to the entrance.
