Description

Great spot! You can spend the night in the parking space (10 usd per car), toilets open all night. They also have camping space, I think it was 15 usd.

They are a fairly new Kitchwa community project, they are still working on it, but they have a restaurant, where you can buy some food and beers.

Also, they can take you in canoas to the lagoon (5 pp), or walk one the paths they have made, so you can spot birds or animals (5 pp for the guide) but we went on our own because they were busy (I would recommend the guide, I had so much questions about plants or we heard birds but couldnt spot them).

We spend a very nice afternoon talking with Mr. Washington and his nephew, he is a great man and knows a lot of the area and loves to share about his community. Also, because of the rain, it was kind of cold so we slept like babys and saw the sunrise in the lagoon. Very pretty!!

The road is paved until Taracoa, and then unpaved but ok for any car, is in very good shape. Soon, it will be all paved (thats what they said).

A kanu paddling tour with the mandatory is 5 USD pP. It's very interesting and we saw birds, monkeys and caymans.

You can camp in the tents of the community or in one of the (at the moment) very basic cabañas. It's 45 USD pP for staying overnight, the paddlingtour, meals and community activities/ getting to know their tradition and history.

They don't allow to camp in your own tent/ vehicle any more due to some problems with previous overlanders!
It's also not allowed to swim there (caymans/ anacondas!).

We really enjoyed the paddling tour. It's about two hours. Best to go there early in the morning, then you'll see much more wildlife!
If you call upfront the community they also provide night tours!

Very beautiful place to put your Camper next to the lagoon. People give tours on Kanus (5pp).
Extremely friendly stuff. We eat there in the evening. There was one meal to choose. Fish with rice and vegetables. Peaceful, highly recommend.
Only drawback, at the end he tried to charge us 45USD a night for a camper!! (It costs 5pp!!) obviously not all if them very honest.

Very beautiful lagoon and surrounding! On weeks days not tourist at all! The price change! $5pp for the canoe tour (not time limit) $1pp to use the pier/viewpoint . We ended up paying $20 for 2 people for everything and overnight right next to the lagoon. For those who need internet connection: no cellphone reception, no Wi-Fi. (last point 4g claro was the town 4km before). Just Nature. Still not asphalt road. The last 4km dirt and small rocks. Also the road has other road that's go to petrol/oil sites. Most of the detour has a sign ....most of them 😅.
