hgwilly62 | Just up the road there are more spots for vans/trucks. Just before mile post. 5 there's a corral and a big spot to turn trucks around and possibly camp with big rvs. The hill to the top is steep so take that into consideration. Some UTVs and Jeeps on the road during the day but very peaceful. |

transformative2020 | This is a large compacted dirt lot advertised as primitive camping within the park (although there are no signs located here indicating so). There are lots of other areas throughout the park to camp, but it is indicated on the map. I got confirmation from staff at the Visitor's Center as I needed someplace more accessible (I have a 2WD campervan; most other areas in the park need 4WD due to the sand.) No amenities. It's mostly a trailhead for hiking; we saw about a dozen people total Wednesday & Thursday in late February. |

jeroverland | A small addition about the Oriental Insurance 3rd party coverage that you can buy from an agent here: When we bought a new insurance for the second year from another agent at another office (but also Oriental), it became clear that the insurance sold to us by the agent that came to Mrs Bandhari’s was not for a car, but for a special category like tractors and rikshas. So if you buy insurance here, make sure it is for the correct category and all details are correct. You might just need it. |

thejourneyofelsol | Rocky unimproved road. Lots of cows- but also lots of grass. The whole area rises from I-10 at a steady rate, so flat spots are limited. Lots of leveling required. Wouldn’t pull a trailer in here. Nice stop close to I-10. |
Lizard Road | 32.01021, -110.01095 | |
elliotheinz | Dirt road pull off on the mountain pass, access road for utility trucks and some other people down the hill. We parked just at the top of the road where it was flat and left space for trucks to pass around. Some traffic at sunrise/sunset on this road. Kinda trashed and some cow carcasses scattered around, so not a spot to hang outside, but had no trouble spending the night. Beware it could be extremely windy if you choose the wrong night. Just check the wind forecasts on wundergound and you’ll be fine. |
