Wilma.TheWhale | Walked into the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager, he said we could stay in the car park no problem. We had a few beers and ate dinner, personally the restaurant wasn't a culinary highlight but we were grateful to have somewhere safe to park. Food ranged from 7$ upto 15$ with some vegatarian options, large 75cl beer 3$. Okay WiFi in restaurant. I imagine the place would be loud until late at the weekend |

Wilma.TheWhale | They didn't have any pastries when I visited, only bread. On the food menu they have sandwiches, omlet and pancakes. We had sandwich and french fries, nice American style grilled cheese sandwich but french fry portion quite small. After our food I also bought 3 loafs of bread which made her very happy |

Wilma.TheWhale | Came to get a SIM card, the building was closed but loads of kids outside selling Sims, Lonestar (MTN) and Orange. One guy agreed 1000 LRD (5$) for SIM registration and some data, passport needed and they take a picture of you. He only loaded 250mb of data and when I asked for more he said you need to buy it, at this point it was thunderstorming and I couldn't be bothered to argue for more data, I paid another 1000 for 6.5gb lasts 1 week. They transfer the credit and input the codes to get the data package |

Wilma.TheWhale | Police check with a gate over the road. Have to enter the building and show passports, they write details into a book and ask why we are there. They have a quick look at our van and we are free to continue. The road is okay, smoothed mud some places we managed to get up to 45kph, traveling with Sprinter |

mgd_tim | Track was graded and easy to drive, with any type of vehicle, maybe except for very low clearance big rigs. We liked this place even more than Cerro siete colores in Uspallata. |

fourwheelfam | Very easy and friendly border crossing. This post is about the money changers. Dude gave horrible rate and then took $5 off the tip as “service fee.” I argued with him in Spanish but then wanted to move on since it was hot and my kids were in the truck. Save your quetzales. I am now in Nicaragua and have been offered to exchange quetzales at every border with a few. |

The Joslyn Journey | Bumpy 1/2 mile but doable - high clearance might be helpful. A few sites up here, and very quiet - you can't hear the road noise at all. Burro mine was pretty fun - bring your flashlight but don't leave crap behind (we picked up trash while there). |

Confortable, leveled and lots of space to spend a few nights. Very quiet during the day and night except some weekends when people come here to drink. During the day there are people preparing boxes with vegetables and fruits, so you can buy some fruits and vegetables cheaper. |

katharina_teut | We crossed from Tajikistan into Kyrgyzstan end of April. No problem at both borders, everything went smooth and fast. Nobody wanted some money. The pass between the 2 borders was still covered in snow and mud, so it was challenging riding our motorcycles. It took us several hours for 20km because it was so sloppery and we dropped the bikes a couple of times. Should be better in summer :-) |

Happy Camper | This is NOT BLM land! It is private property which has been invaded by homeless camps. I had a long conversation with a local landowner who explained that the website postings are in error. They frequently put up No Trespassing signs and the homeless take them down. The locals do not have a good way to get rid of them. My husband and I stayed one time, thinking it felt unsavory there. The second time we were stuck for a place to stay so we went but were told by the local resident that none of the places on ioverlander along the dirt roads are blm land. He said that if you literally go overland, with no roads, several miles east beneath the craggy low mountains it is blm over there. But people go out and shoot and make it inhospitable there as well. Do not invade these peoples neighborhoods, they are having a bad time of it. |
