This is obviously an ongoing problem. Passed through today. There was signs of recent mud slide. But still passable with caution. Once again, it will depend on rainfall amounts.

The Wal-Mart in Yuba City allows overnight parking for RVs and Vans.

Best Hostel we had on our way north since San Martín de los Andes. Clean, cosy, nice decoration, good bed, wifi, TaV, really warm shower and stove, which were burning and really heating up the space. Paid 25.000 pesos for two in a double bed with breakfast. You might negotiate to get the breakfast included. Homemade dinner for extra fee possible. It was good. Really lovely lady, who helped to try all our wet clothes. We could put our bike inside. Highly recommend place.

Dry waterfalls but beautiful scenery. There is a Mirador here with INCREDIBLE views of Lake Suchitlan. We did not pay anything. Recommended as a quick stop for a scenic break and to take in El Salvador's beauty.

We decided to drive CA-3 east all the way to Perquin and it was one of the most beautiful scenic routes we have taken in El Salvador. Very doable with our 2WD. It was mostly sunny and we truly enjoyed this drive that highlighted lakes, rivers, and mountains. Mostly paved roads and plenty of small towns to explore along the way. Highly recommended!

This camp site as at my homes property, it’s a safe place and has a private gate, 24 hr guard and tools if needed.

very good place to try a good fish dishes. I recomended tasty fishing with chesse smoked (tilápia com provolone).

Beautiful spot...parked right next to the river. Quite and easy access for any size rig. Large circular turn around and a fire pit. Mountain View’s and hiking trails. Free...

Like everyone said, there are leeches. Some people swim anyway, but just be aware :)

This looks like it could be good.

However, starting some time in June of 2019 the entire area is going to be closed to allow it to recover, so this site will not be accessible.

The regular forest campground on the East side of the lake will remain open.

This is still a place with lots of camp sites along the road. It is not a wilderness experience.

The Kiwanis Camp and a church camp are on this road and they appear quite busy. The road is paved, and the camping is alongside the road. So this is a good location if you are driving a regular street vehicle.

The day I was there, it looked like all the sites were in use. This is close to Portland, and the access is very easy.

I visited in early June, and the rhododendrons were spectacular.

Very nice and familiar stay in first line of the pacific ocean. They offer breakfast and dinner as an extra. We had both and it was excellent! Outdoor swimming pool with jacuzzi and a nice lounge area with hammocks. We paid 30 USD for a matrimonial room with private bathroom. Owner couple is super nice and speaks Spanish, English and German. They have children and lovely dogs as well as a very good sense for eco-friendly hospitality. Also safe parking and quiet at night. We think this is best value in the region.

Indeed, nice and quiet corners to spend the night. The lake is a zapovednik, no access from here.

Good spot to dump. Pretty easy to access and has two dump spots and two fresh water spickets. I pulled my 36’ TT in (see pictures)

Beautiful and quiet. Lots of sites, nearly empty even on the weekend. Can't beat the view! Kids loved Ape Cave nearby and Trail of Two Forests.

Dump station and potable water. $5 fee w/o fill up, $3 with. When I pulled in with my diesel rig, the attendant only charged me $3 as they don't sell diesel.

One of several forest service campgrounds on the shores of Suttle Lake. Fee is $18 / day.

in case you don't want to or you can't cross with your own car for a day trip to the vic falls: we left our land rover at the botswana border parking space (come early as there are not too many parking lots)
get your stamps in botswana (very easy and fast)
then walk to the zimbabwe border post (approx. 3 mins walk)
don't let the guy who stands in between the border posts let you "sell" any taxi drives to the falls as he overcharges you, he wears a badge which says something about immigration
get your visa (30$ for european passport) at the zimbabwe border post (didn't take too long in june, approx. 30mins waiting time in the morning)
now either you can negotiate with the taxi drivers or ask one of the tour operators if they have space for you. we drove with caprivi tours (his name was mike) and paid 10$ pp
the guy between the border post said taxis are 20$ pp but before we went one taxi driver offered to drive us for 15$ both ways pp (which we didn't take as we didn't trust them to take us back again as we couldn't make any calls or anything)
on our way back we drove with our last 17$ (for the both of us) with a taxi driver back to the border post, they are willing to take you for a few dollars if they can fill up the car.

A little busy during the day as it is right next to the main road, but mostly quiet at night. Terrific view of the mountains and it only takes 5 minutes to get into Mestia, definitely recommended.

A nice place near the river, it seems that locals come here a lot for fishing and getting their boats to the water. Some fireplaces there. Big Rigs should fit as I fit with our landcruiser and conqueror trailer.

Super friendly owners. Relaxed atmosphere. There are boats mooring here as well which makes for interesting conversations at sunset over drinks and snacks. There are toilets, showers and a sauna as well as electricity, water and dumping. All this for only €10 a night. No mosquitos or flies. We came for 1 night and stayed for 3. Will definitely be back.

Not a good experience. We agreed in paying the price of a ‘middle’ room 10,000 francs, so we could use the bathroom and camp in our vehicle. The room is a 1 person room. The bathroom didn’t have water at first and the toilet seat was covered in pee. The manager was rude and laughed in my face when I adressed these issues. We just left the filth, erratic water and cold shower for what it was and stuck to our own facilities.

We slept two nights at this place. Quiet and amazing view. We did the trail to bivak. It takes 2 hours to the small house with table and beds. Would be amazing to stay there for one night. But we didn’t know... Check picture for an impression.

After crossing the border late we asked to park here, which was no problem. Lots of space on a dirt area (parking?) next to their sheds. Bathrooms available.
