Big locked gate with ‘private property’ sign blocking the road here. No through access to El Carmen.

Coming from Saltillo, I had to backtrack and enter the national park via Los Cedritos, didn’t come across any more gates after that all the way to Monterrey

Spent a night camped here in one of the wood huts, hiding from a very windy night. Flat spot for a car to park too. Felt very safe, a local did warn me about bears in the area so be careful to store your food well.

Big parking. Possible to park our vehicle. Security is there. Maybe 3-4 m restrictions high? Place for one big rig but mostly for small van.

Came on a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm and it was near deserted. Large selection of household items, clothing, appliances, sundry items, groceries at reasonable prices. There is a money exchange in the car park as well, very convenient.

Awesome spot! Slept tucked into some eucalyptus trees. Road noise with headlights flickering as they go by the guard rails, but if you black out windows it’s no problem. Great quiet spot, unbothered all night!

The river is crossing over the road and builds a deep muddy pit. We tried to cross with a 2W on the side where the pit was less wide, but got stuck because of the muddy ground. Even for a 4W the pit seems quite deep. Also the road leading there from Perito Moreno is in a quite bad condition and even though there was not a lot rain the past days, there were other parts of the road flooded by small rivers as well. We turned around and used the border crossing via RP72.

Not sure if the name is still correct, I think it’s just called La pizzeria Chaiten now. Incredible Pizza!! They also have vegetarian/vegan Burgers. Very tasty as well (had the vegetarian Burger).

As described- A large, flat and calm place to spend the night going to/coming from Conakry.
Also possible for Big Rigs.
View on dam and surrounding nature is amazing.

!! Before you settle down to sleep: Below (in the dam's front area if you looking down from the plateau), there is a small building in which the military guard stays in. We did not see him in the first place, in the next morning he gave us a very agitated visit and complained that we would have had to ask first if we can stay. After a few words, apologizing repeatedly and signaling to prepare our caravan for leaving, he calmed down and stayed until we left (but as per our opinion rather out of curiosity), even waved at us friendly at the end. :)

Went outside to show our TIP and original passport (Why would they have to accept a copy fellow overlanders? right, they shouldn't) and after checking papers we could cross without issues. Hope the police in Bolivia is indeed getting less corrupt, or we we're just lucky..

Nice place, it was very clean. We were in two and stayed at the new hut. No water though. Weather was bad, so it was a a great stop on the way to Punta Arenas.

We found it nice here, suitable for every size rig, full on weekends until 6pm, but the guests didn't bother us, from Monday the cold pool is not filled due to cleaning, only the warm ones. Very clean, pretty facility. 5000 ColpP per day. If you only stay one night you should leave by +/-9am, otherwise it costs 2 days entry. The overnight stay itself costs nothing. Toilets and cold showers, barbecue and WiFi available. The restaurant is open on weekends, the garlic fish fillet with salad and fries for 4000Col was excellent. The access is sandy, but easily manageable. There is parking available in front of or behind the entrance. A 2km trail is available. Lots of toucans, iguanas and howler monkeys. the sign on the Main street is huge and New.

Easy to access Sani dump. They had the dump station, a place to fill up potable water and a car wash as well as vacuums. The owner was there and told us the sani dump was free right now, so It was free for us to use but it does say it costs $5.00 to dump. It takes coins only but there is change machine by the car wash.

Fisherman’s Park has a single bathroom that is CLEAN and inspected daily. Please keep it cleaner than you found it! Has cold water and liquid soap to wash hands. Can be used to dump a PORTABLE TOILET ONLY. Think Cassette or Composting toilet. There is also a trash can inside. There is a keypad on the door so I assume that they lock it after dusk.

We spent one night here. On Sunday the music goes until 22h, after that just the cars on the road, if you are a light sleeper it's a problem.

Dormimos uma noite aqui. No domingo a música alta fica até as 22h, depois disso somente o barulho de veículos na via, se você tem o sono leve será um problema.

Also called La Cumbre Outdoor. Mixed camping gear and DIY shop. Excellent prices compared to other places: Doite gas for 4100 CLP, bencina blanca for 3200 CLP, sleeping mats, bags and sleeping bags for a fair price. Even the postcards are cheap (350 till 550 CLP). Some MSR, Thermarest, Petzl, Deuter gear. La Sportiva shoes. Really good place.

There is a pull off and just buying it is a rest stop that allows 8 hour parking. Right by the road but also on the water. We didn’t stay here but looked like it would work just fine. Quite a few vehicles parked there. Fairly clean.

There is a sign stating this is an approved campsite on this road. Lots of space for RVs. Dirt road leading in. Could be muddy if rained recently.

Little gem of a hostel. Super friendly owners, very welcoming. Nice dorm rooms, spatious and only 2 or 3 people per room. Clean place, even if there are 4 cats around (they don't bother at all). 17.000 CLP per night for a dorm with (good) breakfast included, 19.000 CLP for a single. 500m from the centre, so you end up walking a bit, but nothing extreme. Close to the nice seafront. Excellent bakery (Panaderia Black Lamb) 100m away, where they do burgers, empanadas, pizza slices... for a veeeery fair price. Really, a good address, I was lucky to stay here, probably better than the mainstream hostels. Only downside: there is no stove to cook, so you'll need to eat out, but again, there are very good places close-by that will feed you for a fair price, especially when you consider the remoteness of the region.
Last thing: I could park my bike under a roofed, closed shed at the back of the house.

a huge variety of wild camping options along this peninsula. From the main road there is an open gate, no signs and no lock, and an abandoned building that could be a potential shelter (we didn't go inside to see if it is suitable). there is a spiderweb of dirt roads through the forest with a variety of wild camp spots with stream access. Saw a local fisherman biking through and he just said hello, no issues.

It looks like cattle graze here so filter water and be sure to keep gates closed after passing through, and no fires, too dangerous!

Pulled in off the payment and was met with several stray dogs running along the bus, a 5th wheel missing its rims and scrapped outs, a pallet tent camp and an rv run down with a rough looking guy outside slumped. Went back to the truck stop for the night.
