Great quiet spot about 200-300m after the bungee parking, the road gets a bit rough but ok at least to get here (unless maybe if you have a big rig..) We were here with our small SUV (no 4W) - the spot is slightly inclined but still really ok to sleep. Do make sure to not leave any trash though - we found some alu foil and plastic from previous campers which we cleaned.

Tried staying at Planet Fitness. Security knocked at 11pm said cops start patrol at 11:30pm to 4am will ticket you and tow vehicle. He said to park in dirt lot across the street. So we did. Some other cars here and a couple semi’s. By highway. Level. Not bad at all only 3 minutes walk to PF. Other than highway noise it was a good nights stay.

Entrance is on the north east side on very small track. Both google and T4A sent me on the wrong side of the river to access this place. Good find. The original site is better than the one on the island (less road noise)

This waypoint is a track that goes land in, at the end of the track is a large leveled meadow. There is some sea view and is very clean and sheltered if very windy.

Easily accessible from track below , preferably with 4x4 , also accessible from track above, you can see a track on Gaia connecting the two tracks, but only advisable to use this connecting track/shortcut with a 4x4 and if you don’t mind some tight spots and potential scratches .

We had some goats passing through

We stayed here as the westerly and was blowing us into the sea. Short drive to the west to go for a swim in the morning (150 mtrs west of grenlik, or 700 meters as the crow flies from this site .

Great spot, we had a lot of wind coming from the west , so was difficult to find a sheltered spot . Managed to find one in top left corner of open meadow with your back to the amphi theater .

It’s amazing that you can actually camp so close to such a historical side .

For a camper, there is a little plateau on the left of the path, just before the step down , which step is probably too much for a campervan.

This is one of the best overnight parking in Asheville. I come to Asheville often and stay here every single time. it gets busy on weekends but people leave you alone. Level parking, decent cell service, quiet, and trails close by. Google maps has you take the long route but there's an entrance right off the highway and it'll re route you and reduce the time by like 20min!

Fairly easy border. Nica immigration was the longest part with long lines and dude at the register who claimed he couldn’t give me $3 change after letting everyone cut my family for an hour. Aduana was simple. Inspection was quick, I helped agent into and out of camper which I believe shortened it. Just be nice and things will work out. No scanner but it was running- I’m traveling with two young kids so maybe they considered that. I was very anxious for this border, but it was fine. In total 1 hour Honduras exit, 2 hours at nica immigration, and 1 hour nica aduana. Not as bad as the internet makes it seem. Get rid of the drone, they are annoying anyway!

Its free in off-season. The places at the beach were flooded. Take care where you park, the ground can be sandy or too soft.
It has drinking water taps and electricity. We didn't check the bathrooms.

The place is so beautiful and they have an adorable puppy and a baby alpaca to boot!
The parking areas is flat with super easy access and lots of room for rigs of all sizes to turn around. The bathroom is clean but unfortunately the showers are still not in operation.
If it hadn’t of poured rain all afternoon we just would have warmed up a pot of water on our stove and done a pour over in the shower stall!
There’s a nice covered space to hang out and a lovely little restaurant which makes this a perfect spot to stay while you are hiking stunning trail around the crater. Access is just a few hundred meters up the road. The clouds were really low for the first two hours of our hike then they lifted and WOW!! What a beautiful view.
Owners are super friendly and pets are welcome.
We highly recommend this place. $5 pp included electricity.

Nice view above the lagoon. Beautiful hikes in both directions around the lake possible. Lots of flamingos to see. In the morning there are lamas at the hot springs. Sometimes Toyotas with tourists for half an hour coming here, too. To stay for night is allowed. We stayed for two nights. Really quiet at night. Enough space for a hand of big rigs. Enjoy.

Stayed here for a night and most of the following day during the weekend. Free! Very peaceful and quiet, definitely a locals spot for catching fish/turtles. 2-3 bars T-Mobile. Port-o-potty toilets and trash cans all around. Shade trees for parking to keep your rig cool. A sheriff came through during the day to check on things. 14 day max stay.

Crossing from Tanzania to Rwanda

At the gate we gave back the TIP and stamped out the Carnet from Tanzania. Afterwards we went to the main hall. Easy stamp out from Tanzania.
At the Rwanda immigration we got a small paper slip with the visa cost. We took that to the Rwanda Revenue Authority and gave them our Carnet. They stamped the car in and prepared the receipt for our visas. The East African Tourist Visas cost 100$ each. We only had 100$ and 100€ with us. At the bank we could exchange the 100€ to 102$. After payment we got the receipt and went back to immigration. They told us we don’t have to queue again and can just go to the window. There he filled out the visa in the passport, although he mixed up our first and last names. The ATM outside dispenses Rwandan Francs and has a 3.000 Franc fee.
After that we went to the exit and our car was searched. We had to unpack everything in the car and open every box and compartment. It took a while and was really exhausting. They mostly searched for drones.

Crossing from Burundi to Tanzania

After entering the main building first we got a small piece of paper at the health post. Afterwards we just got a quick stamp out from Burundi and into Tanzania.
At the customs there wasn’t anyone from Burundi at first so we went to the Tanzania one. It took really long to get the TIP again and as there were a lot of people at the counter it wasn’t always clear who was getting processed. We first parked at the main entrance, but for the customs we had to park in front of the windows so that he could see the car from the counter. Then we went to inspect the car and he was really keen on comparing the Chassis number from the engine bay and under the window. But had just a quick look inside. After waiting more we had to pay the road tax again even though we just paid it 5 days ago for a month, but it expires once you leave Tanzania. So 25$ or 65.000 TZS. After waiting at the bank and more waiting at the customs we got the TIP and could leave. At the exit gate we had to give the small slip from the health post. All in all a very frustrating process at the Tanzania customs.
