Staying here one night. No signs saying no camping. Kids are letting off fireworks but we expect them to go home soon. Will update if any issues.

Arrived at around sunset at 8pm on a Monday, July 1. No vehicles when we first arrived. Quiet and beautiful green views. No signs, just a pullout with some level areas. Around 8:30pm, other cars started parking around here as well but no other vans or rv’s yet as of 9pm.

Def worth the $8 for an all day pass. I swam, I worked out, & I bathed. Had a lovely day instead of driving 50 miles to the nearest PF for a shower. Went for a stroll on the boardwalk after catching a matinee for $7 next door. I'll stealth camp on the street tn. Easy Peasy.

Tried to go up after the rain. Saw a spot but couldn’t make it up the hill in fwd promaster. It was super muddy glad we did not get stuck.

A little bumpy getting here on Hudson Rd. Nice little turnout. You can’t see the river since the bank is overgrown, but you can hear it. Nice little fire pit built up.

We came after sunset and one guy camping there (for $20) said the guy was gone for the night. So we filled up for free. It has a hose with it, very neat.

There’s a lot of dodgy people parked on the roads, this spot is a ways to get to but seems safer and more normal people as you get up higher.

A nice place to stop if the weather is fine. But if it’s windy, the lake is not so inviting. Seasonal toilets.

Amazing Campsite ! Perfect stop on our way to Botswana. Patrick is very friendly and his Bread (gift) is crazy good ! Campsite area is very spacious and flat. Ablutions are basics but very clean. Warm shower. Quiet and peacefull. Clean tap water. Wood 35Zar. We paid 350Zar for 2 for one night. Really worth it !

Nice level parking lot on the ocean. Nice view,ok cellphone/data on Bell. Lots of locals come here so expect some traffic up to about 10 PM. This beach is very well taken care of. Garbage bucket available, pit latrines that people come off the road to use. We were treated to an impromptu Bhangra dance by two carloads of Canada celebrants but they left after all their beer was gone.Stayed here for one night after seeing Louisbourg.

ZAMBIA TO MALAWI FOR BRITISH PASSPORT HOLDERS WITH A RENTED LAND CRUISER (South African car). Prices per post below by boreyenek should be in Malawian Kwacha, not Zambian.

Our experience, July 2024:
1. Zambia immigration - Stamp out of Zam in passport
2. Zam customs - hand over TIP, they checked the chassis and engine number, get it stamped.
3. Malawi immigration - Stamp for us, easy. No visa fees for UK, so can’t advise here. We did not do the e-Visa.
4. ATM working for Malawian Kwacha. No need to engage with anyone who’s not official for anything - insurance or cash. See prices below for how much money to get out.
5. Malawian customs - see pricing for vehicles below, but we paid: 30,000 MKW processing fee, 11,500 MKW for the carbon tax, and 20 USD for the road tolls. You fill in forms at the customs desk and pay at the bank next door in the most lengthy payment process you will ever go through in your life. (Enjoy).
6. Proceed out of the gate and into the chaos. We went to Prime insurance on the right just after the gate. The agents in the border were saying 55,000. We said it was 25,000 online (per iOverlander). We got to the office, the too said 55,000 and we said it was 25,000 online. They took 25,000 for a month of insurance. Weirdly no price on the receipt, but we were happier with that.
6. At a check point in the town they ask for 5000 MKW for town council. Receipt issued.

Prices per documentation on Malawian customs:
FEES PAYABLE
1. Processing Fee - MWK 30,000
2. Carbon Tax - Dependent on Engine Size
• 0-1500CC = MWK4000
• 1501 - 2000CC = MWK8000
• 2001 - 3000CC = MWK11500
• Above 3000CC = MWK15500

TOLL FEES
1. Small Vehicles (Saloon) - USD $20 everywhere in Malawi
2. Buses - Inquire from officer
3. Other Vehicles eg trucks, inquire from the Officer on duty
