I drove there from san francisco, i dont think you can drive straight up from the panamerican highway (at least the guy that lives at the start of that trail told me that. He also told me its safe to camp there)
Near the top you pass a guard from the wind park but he was very friendly and only wanted to note my name
I nearly couldnt get up the last part with my heavy luggage on my motorcycle and i for sure you cant drive that way with a car (very narrow parts, almost didnt fit with my panniers)
But the locals drive up there with their small bikes and it is an amazing place to camp

Great small campground. the regular rate is $35 for out of state. has water and a dump station included with stay. $10 to get into the area. Very quite, good fishing, 3 bars of Verizon.

right along the water. maybe 6-7 vehicles can park here. couple of benches and trash cans right along the water. The gazebo is across the road. very quiet & peaceful

Nice and well hidden spot, we spent a quiet night here. The road that leads you up to this point starts about 300m further up the road. Seems to be an old quarry of sorts but the track seemed like it hadn't been in use for quite some time. Nice views

We've paid 90soles for two nights in a matrimonial. We tried to ask for less but was denied a discount. The place is nice enough, the room was small and simple but ok for a couple of nights, the bed is comfortable. There is a toilet in the room but the shower is in common (electric, warm). The bed was clean but the toilet wasn't, we asked and the owner cleaned it for us when we arrived. You can park your motorbike inside. WiFi is good and the owner is friendly

Quiet location with 10 spots. Level gravel area. No water or electricity, garbage dumpster and Vault toilet on site. Cost is $10 - 20. There is a great little trail with fossilized Dinosaur tracks.

Don't try to access after the small bridge because there's large sand dunes that have drifted across the track and you'll definitely get stuck!

Little pull off a short way up a logging road. Go down Foss Rd to get to Forest Service road then pull off logging road to left just a short way down FS road. Road is steep but well maintained. Could fit small RV or a couple of vans or cars. Probably plenty of other sites on same road but didn’t go further. Intermittent one bar of service.

Awesome place. There is highway and train noise but not bad. Quiet all night. Parked in car spots with our van.

This agua station is permanently closed. Its now a butcher shop.

Just outside town, we took a small road to the mountains. We parked next to the road. Beautiful sightseeing.

Nice clean place, these days the price starts from USD 13 in a shared room (7 beds). Unfortunately, the place is pretty noisy (road & guests), so don't forget your earplugs if you plan to get any sleep :(

Departure every hour between 9-16h in winter. Tour in your own car with a guide. 5 stops with explanation. Very interesting and beautiful. Nice to do even expensive. 20.000 for adults but we ask discount for our kids and paying 10.000 like national for them. Kids payed up to 6 years. Do it even is no sun.
