Looked beautiful, but it’s really very, very far away from everything, so you have to rely on the owner for even basics like drinking water. Not even a small shop around to buy snacks. So when on a motorbike or bicycle and not with a car, come prepared or stay somewhere in town. We didn’t stay for that exact reason despite everything looked pretty.

Still there! For Diesel, there is no problem in Mauritania, so you have many possibilities on the way from Morocco or Senegal to here, but for fuel (motorbikes!) it’s another story. If you’re not going downtown, this might be the only option to refuel until Saint Louis/Nouadhibou.

Note that the train station is only open when a train arrives or leaves. The rest of the day it’s completely shut down. Right of it next to the toilets there is a guard living in the hut. He can give you information about trains or call a person who knows.

Came back third time now after 1,5 years and it’s even better now than it used to be. Phone signal now is very strong (there is an antenna now in the middle of the last roundabout), so if you have mobile data, you could even work in paradise. 😂
Dinner got really expensive now, but it’s very good and if you know Mauritania, then you know it’s worth it.
It’s 4 friendly dogs now that get along very well with guest‘s dogs.
Please don’t use the washing machine as water is a real issue and very scarce. We gave our laundry to the cleaning lady who takes laundry home and delivers next day. Depending on how much laundry you have, give her 200-300 MRU.

They don’t really want that we fill our water here anymore. We had to talk to the manager and insist.

Great choice instead of KOA next door. We needed a place to stop to avoid the strong winds, have a truck camper with solar so did not need any hookups. The owner let us tuck in between two sheds to block the wind, even trimmed some branches so we fit. Charged us $10 to dry camp and $10 for use of the shower & rest room. Coin laundry. Everything was clean & well cared for. I was a happy camper!

Stayed on the small island section. Lots of long term campers which prevents some of the grass mowed. 15,30,50 amp power avail. Lots of dead branches in the trees. OK for overnight.

An absolutely delicious and excellent Italian restaurant. nice and quiet, amazing thing crust pizzas (done the proper way), salads, red wines, beer, cocktails, fast WiFi, all in a traditional courtyard.
Reasonably priced as well with very friendly staff and English speaking.
Highly recommend if you need a proper pizza fix!

dispersed sites located fairly close to the access road. can hear the traffic noise from the highway. has excellent T-Mobile service 5G with five bars. beautiful walking trail access from one of the dispersed sites. The Ridge Trail, which may not be its actual name, is a trail through previously logged forest. not very attractive. no amenities other than a stone fire ring.

There is a off road way to this place. You can stop wherever on that road. The final place is the river bus we stopped before because of the cactus. Look out for it. Less windy than next to the road and some bushes

A verge directly next to the road. Just big enough for one large vehicle, and levelled. Near the river and in a quiet area of town. Not hidden and close to traffic, so far from ideal but we were out of options. Arrived late night and there were no suitable places around this area. Few vehicles passed but otherwise quiet night.

We just finished horse riding with Antonio. The horses are incredibly well trained. We are pretty inexperienced and we could trot with them on our own.
The landscape is beautiful and the canyon was amazing.
We paid 20,000 pesos per person for 2.5 hours.

I do like this place at the end of a track down waterhole road , ok in any motor but if wet you will get stuck (2WD) friends got to 100 yards to the end in there camper van but it was raining all day and some of the road is clay... he got very stuck , but 4x4 is fine , lots of space when you get there.

Really neat little campground with 3 free no service sites and 11 electrical hookup sites. You'll see the three free sites to your left before entering the paid electrical site portion of the campground. (The blue dot on one of my photos is the free site I stayed at one night.)

Lots of tent camping if you walk from the RV sites down to the lake and to your left. Right now there is quite a bit of free firewood left by each of the sites (see photos).

Awoke to a tornado warning, heavy wind, and pelting rain, but I guess it goes with the territory. Still a great campground!

Beautiful place to spend a couple of days. The entry looks a bit sketchy, but we managed to get in and out with our 6.6m 3.6t Fiat Ducato.
There is a real sand beach where you can sunbathe if it’s sunny and the water in the river is Cristal clear.

This was such a remote spot with service. There was a major wildlife fire back in August so there are quite a few burned trees.

We were woken up by our dog growling around 11:30. In the morning we saw what looks like a bear print on our van (see pic). So be super mindful if you stay since it is right near a creek.

Pressure outside very low. A friendly local opend the entrance door for us and showed us the taps inside. This water is not filtered, but with a higher pressure. Toilets and shower inside (we didn’t use).

Posada del Rio (Malalcahuello): A very romantic and stylish hotel. We spent four nights here to recover from the stresses and strains of traveling in motorhome. The price per night is 108‘000 to 130’000 pesos for two persons, excellent breakfast included. But the hotel is worth every Peso. Claudia and Pedro are wonderful hosts, that provide you all help and information for a pleasant stay. During the day we very much enjoyed the familiarity, the beautiful garden and terrace, and in the evening the cosy lounge. Needless to say that everything was super clean and professionally maintained.

Only small trouts available at 15 SOL the kilo. To buy yogurt (6 SOL per liter), cheese (18,5 / 20 SOL per kilo) and butter (10 SOL 1/4 kilo) you need to go 2km further in the village of Pachacayo. Here there is a store dedicated to the dairy product.
