We checked first that the spigot was working. Then I asked if we could use it. Manager said that the spigot wasn’t working. Then I said that actually it was working perfectly so he finally said I could use it. 😊

Stayed here a couple of days. Very nice, even with hardly any water in the river.
We arrived from the North, crossed the river, and left using the main track back towards the N1 south of Pita.
the road from the North is a lot longer, but less challenging. The main route has a serious steep acent/decent close to the river. Fine in the dry, but in the wet probably different story.

The water went up half a meter during a sunny days without any rain around. So take care a bit where you park..

There were some guys from the other side of the river showing up with guide badges and 'official visa' tickets.. 25k per visa, printed and stamped on it...
The locals from the North side of the river we spoke to every day said it should be free here and that normally the 'rope' point is only on the main track on the other side.
I hope they sort their stuff out in the coming time, would be nice to contribute to the community as a whole, taking care of stuff, rather then just a few guys.

Wild camped on the parking place next to the Nazca acueducto. Very quiet at night. Around 8am the first tourists arrived.

Outside the Cafe there is some guy making Fatera. Is kind of a chapati with eggs and vegetables, very good and cheap. Nice ambiance too, since the guy is friendly.

Fishing access location with camping. Free with fishing license. 6 level back-in sights with tables and fire ring. One with swing hanging from tree. Good gravel access road. Highway and railroad 1/2 mile away so there is some noise to compete with cranes. Access from Old US 10.

very good mechanic. friendly but hard to understand sometimes because our Spanish was not good enough. he was much quicker than another taller in town and could come and pick us up although our motor wouldn't start. he was quick to find pieces and very proactive to make our vehicule better. don't hesitate to call him if you're stuck somewhere in the region. we could even sleep 3 nights in our van in the garage, he has a lot of tools if you need, potable water and electricity. great guy and his collègue is also very nice. P.S. don't leave food in the trash bin because the two dogs will put everything on the floor. 😂😵‍💫

Honestly the camping is not worth it. There was only 1 toilet working, which cannot be flushed correctly and the door cannot be closed. The shower is old and either burning hot or ice cold.
In the morning the lady knocked quite aggresively and repeatedly on our van, saying that we have to check out (they did not tell us any time to leave before) and claiming that we'll have to pay more as they charged us the wrong amount the night before. In total we paid 9500ars for 2 people with camper, but the facilities and the attitude of the owners was not worth the money.

Still active. They’re pulling over random cars. Asked me for my documents and looked around inside my vehicle for a minute.

We were politely told by the police that there is no place to park and stay in this town outside of the two designated camp areas. They continually check the areas on ioverlander.

Amazing place! You can be part of the community but you don’t have to. We cooked together and had fun. Beach and climate was amazing! No bugs or mosquitoes. Best shower since a long time. Loved this place and the owners.

Camp is on Hualapai Indian reserve, you need to get a permit ($22/person) at the Fish and Game shop in Peach Springs. Check their office hours. Last permit is sold 1 hours before shop close.
Drive to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and enjoy views of the Colorado. It’s where a lot of rafting tours/group launch their trips (need additional permit for that).
No camping at the beach but you can still enjoy it during the day. Campground is on your right when you arrive, sites with canopy, tables. Fires permitted during our visit.
Very peaceful, there was only 2 other people
It can get busy on the beach parking lot when outfitters are pulling rafters in and out of the water.

No cell service for T-Mobile.
Probably not suitable for big rigs since we were asked the size of our rig (Sprinter) before being granted the permit

When you arrive at park entry the staff are completely unhelpful. Zero attempt to tell us what was going on.
As it turned out, we needed snow chains. No sign, no gesturing with hands, nothing to help.
Really unpleasant staff at park entry.

Came to check the place out because it’s obviously after the fire thing. But there’s signs posted all over index that “camping and overnight use of recreational vehicles is unlawful in the town limits of the Town of Index”. But there’s a spot by the river five minutes down the road that has a 14 day stay limit - no services.
