A beautifully laid out animal rescue centre. Suitable for all ages. 100 pesos per person. We spent over 2 hours here and you can come close to an animal of your choice. Very worthwhile.

Big area with flat places to park a camper or a big rig just in front of the lake. We arrive in our camper late and stay just a saturday night, quite and calm. For one night is ok.
Phone and internet signal.

Great little campspots really close to the beach and surfspot.
There’s a bar at the end of the road with an established campground but the area before the « private property » sign is free. No facilities but the bar has toilets and a shower for the customers.

Easy to get to the spot. From the North (coming from Todos Santos) turn right just before the Laundry place and follow a dirtroad through some fields and farms. Follow the « beach bar » sign. Accessible without a 4x4.

Beautiful spot in the jungle, next to a river with caves. Really kind people and waking up with goats nibbling on the doors of truck was quite hilarious. Primitive camping, 25Q pp

Storage price for a month is 1000 MXN. The bathrooms are still not very nice but Raul - the friendly man for everything - gave us the key for one of the rooms to have a hot shower. Nearby has Nico his garage. He works e.g. for Rotel Bus in Mexico and has experience with European trucks.

Very nice hotel. Prices for a double have gone up to 500, but includes ample breakfast. Rooms are on the first floor and the spacious privates go out to the street, so you get some road noise. It is indeed possible to park the bikes in the covered patio - perfect.

Large parking lot with picnic tables and a separate area for RVs. Bathrooms open until around 6 PM, then closed for the night. Right near the museum and gift shop, just next to the south entrance of Petrified Forest. Electricity available for RVs. Fine for a night and free!

Entering Georgia from Turkey. Roads were open in winter, but the pass on Turkish side in an altitude of 2.550 m had a lot of snow.
Formalities took us about an hour. Georgian customs checked our medicine very closely and a dog came to control our bus.

Solo tienen que pedir al guardaparque del camping que les selle las entradas del dia anterior.

Beautifull costal gravel road, verry nice scenery. Sealions, steep cliffs and beaches. Coming from the south the road starts at Puerto San Julian and goes north for about 20k before returning to RN3 between kilometer 2232 and 2233. Quite good road, doable with 2wd in good weather conditions, some parts are little washboards.

FREE. No facilities. NO FIRES.
Amongst trees on west side of road. Clean: no litter / garbage / rubbish / toilet paper. An absolute delight :-)
Out of view of road and sheltered from the winds.
Easy access for two wheelers and small vehicles over gravelled entrance area.

Great spot next to a little lake. Level ground, made a fire spot, plenty of firewood and perfect shelter from the wind. We didn't drink the water, but used it for washing the dishes. The spot is visible from the road but i think nobody bothers here. Quiet at night.

Good place to stay the night in the middle of the route beetwen the coast and Buenos Aires. The site is beside the gas compressor. A bit of noise but acceptable...

The place is open, every day until 9.30pm. Unfortunately the lady was not helpful at all, she is just handing out the map of Refugios and notes down your registration. If you park at Wharton, there is also a booth right there where you can register.

We also parked for donation at the place opposite. It was totally empty and looked a bit run down when we got here, but when we came back it was fully packed with cars. And yes, do not skip the choripan!

Don't attamept to drive down here if you don't have a 4x4, we met a couple of small cars that had big troubles coming back up, we ended up pushing them for a good chunk of the road.
Down at the pizza and beer place you can now also camp for 120pP incl breakfast. Camping at the Refugios in The Valley is 100-150pP

The Cajon de Azul Refugio is closed at the moment and according to the personnel at the other Refugio it will remain closed for a while as the older couple running it want a break from guests. They didn't have this information at the mountain guide office in town, but there are plenty other options around to stay at.

Refugio Cajon de Azul - Walk in only -41.85139, -71.62164

Beautiful place with a cosy common room right at the lake. Camping is 100pP, Refugio is 300pP which also includes a shower and the use of the kitchen. If you camp, you have to pay an extra 100 for each. The kayak they had for paddling out is unfortunately broken.

They offer food, a pizza will set you back 350-400ARS, a liter of beer is 160ARS and their pan casero 120CLP. So if you're traveling on a budget, you might want to bring your own food.
We hiked the steep path up here from Wharton, it took us 4h with lunch break, so we continued hiking down to Cajon del Azul which takes around 2h. If you're motivated, you could loop back to Wharton in a day (add another 2,5h to get back to Wharton from Cajon del Azul).
Getting to the Refugio Hielo Azul is 40min from here. From that Refugio it's another 1h-1,5h to get to the glacier and you need to start that hike before 3pm and only in good weather conditions.

The best is to get a map of all the refugios in that area and what you're reading will make more sense. Keep in mind that the time measurements on that map are very generous and most likely you will be faster - so extra time to enjoy this gorgeous place!

Refugio Natacion - Walk in only -41.87992, -71.62478
instagram.com/slowcookingsalmon

Beautiful setting right next to the river. Camping is 150pP, the Refugio is 300 or 350pP (I can't remember). The owner of the refugio didn't seem to be too thrilled about guests, but they let us eat and hang out in the common area before we set up our tent.

The food is slightly cheaper here than at Ref Natacion (pizza 250-300ARS, bread 75ARS), hot water is for free. You can shower for a voluntary contribution.

From here it's an easy walk to Cajon del Azul and plenty of places to swim in the cold water. There are endless opportunities to link the Refugios together in a multi-day trek, if you want to get lost in the woods for some time, this is the place!
