there.today | Beautiful place, as described. We went mid-week but still had tons of people due to kids being out of school for summer break. Note that after heavy rains (as we had, see pic) the water in the river turns a muddy green-brown instead of the turquoise blue you see in the pictures. The tunnel and caves were amazing, lots of construction in the higher positas but still nice to soak. Security guards patrol regularly and they do check tickets for the next day if you’re staying over night. We rolled in around 5p and they only charged us for parking and tickets for the next day. We left after a full day around 6p and moved to the upper lot before the switchbacks (where the buses park) for the night to avoid paying for next day. |

scontius | Well sure not the best but nice. We stay directly next to the beach - but very close above us there is a little plateau which is very crowded right now 5 Rvs- some let their generator running:-((( So this place feels almost like a official camping place - if you like it- you are right here- if not like us- avoid this place.

Van Girl76 | The sunset here is unreal!!! I parked in the main parking area for the afternoon working. I had decent Verizon coverage with my antenna booster but had great coverage after coming down the dirt road to the end. A sherif from the Carson City office and a detective from the Sparks PD stopped by looking for information about a robbery that occurred, presumably here?!? They asked how long I’d been camping here and seemed very chill and acted as if ppl stay here often. They said the cell signal is much better at the end of the gravel road than at the main parking lot. They asked a lot of questions about my camper van (intrigued) and complimented - nice ppl. I wasn’t sure though if I should be spooked by this robbery information or what. After spending several hours here it seemed like a fine location. Not really sure if there is reason to be concerned. Anywho, I added a few photos of sunset here. There is some highway noise but it drowns out of you have a fan going inside. Also, the diet road portion is drivable but know that there are some deep ruts. |

blancathetaco | Spot just off the south side of Grassy Lake Road on FS land. Fire ring. Fairly level. Sound of the creek running by all night. There is a trail head just on the other side of the road so be prepared for early morning visitors. Had about 20 scouts show up just after 6a. Bugs are not bad after sunset but are definitely present after sunrise. |

mntt | Relax guesthouse + Fortec Garage, is an amazing place! The family is very friendly, food is great and the vibe is homey and relaxed. We stayed for two nights, didn’t really need any work on the motorcycle but the owner is a great mechanic (previously at Oasis Guesthouse). Strongly recommended!! Price: 35’000 per person per night including breakfast (bread&jam).

motorradreise.blog | Nice Location with a lovely park and a beach at the lake. Unfortunately it is also the meeting point of the youngster with their cars listening to extrem loud music from their cars and smoking shisha. It is worth to give it a try, but we continued 5 km further to a supermarket parking lot. |

functionalvan | $35 per night is what we were charged for our 19ft Van. As other people have described it is busy with trucks... there is also the train right there. Great location as it is close to the water front trail, museums, bike rental and downtown. 5 star only due to the location. |

frugalnomadz | Highly reccomend this spot for a night or two. Flat spot right in front of this beautiful lake. We didn't see any wildlife but did catch a trout in this stocked lake. We did have cell phone coverage with T Mobile. Not far off the road but far enough to enjoy the quiet (even though the road is not busy). |

clareburgener | A lovely spot right on the shores of the lake. Accessed by a narrow causeway road so probably not big rig friendly, you also have to drive through a village with small roads. When you reach the end of the causeway, turn right and follow the dirt road around the edge of the island. When you reach the other side you're all alone with only animals and the odd farmer for company. A very peaceful night. We're in a LWB Sprinter and accessed the area without any problems, plenty of space to turn around at the campspot too. |
