Thank you Cerro Sombrero! Great wind sheltered place in a very stormy night, hot shower, good place. The biggest two grocery stores (still small shops in the grand scheme of things) of Cerro sombrero are just up the hill. Left of the entrance are two camp sites with roofs and weather protection from 3 sides for up to four tents, albeit with concrete floor, so only for free standing tents.

Got the last spot at about 7pm. Dry camping for RV $18. Good spot to start the day at GC and get moving before the crowds arrive.

Hotel closed for renovation but we were allowed to park under the mango tree and use the facilities. Nothing great but it works, there is security, and the river next to it is beautiful. Right next to the border, good place if you arrive in the area after six pm.

Nice place with a lot of trees. Am allowed to park my van under a tree, and use the facilities (shower & toilet) of an empty room for L150. Food options indeed relatively limited but a local restaurant around the corner where I'm getting cassava leaves with fish and rice for 35L.

Wifi of beach restaurant el ancla (el ancla guest). You have to write "Puravida2024" to get internet. (There is a sign in a tree, between the tables, with this password writen on it) It works very well.

The highway noise isn’t great for the tent sites. But the day use picnic area is wonderful. We brought out cooking gear down there and had dinner while watching the sunset. Infinitely better than doing that at the camp site.

Quite calm place close to a busy road but hidden. Stayed here one night with my tent.

Not so nice, but OK for a night. We arrived late and left early.

Much better than expected after reading some of the comments. Ablutions were clean, swimming pool was working and we used it lots. Only issues were some of the sinks blocked up and odd lights not working. The canyon view is spectacular. Be aware of jackals and baboons coming into the camp at night.

We stayed one night on a park behind of the Firefighter Station. They let us wash our dishes and refill our water bottles. The personel was very nice. Its close to the city of Salsacate and a Gas Station.
Perfect place to spend one night and have our bikes and belongings on a safe place.

Absolutely beautiful lakeside camping. Clean bathrooms with hot showers, though they can be temperamental. We paid $7,000 per person, no extra charge our E150 ford van.

This area is sedan friendly. I spent one night here and I rented Hyundai Tucson. Plenty of space. My nearest neighbor was more than 100 feet away. Some existing fire pits were already here. Usable T-Mobile service, barely. I stayed closer to the road. I liked the views here!

As described below, when you see the “Pandora” sign you have arrived. Don’t rely on Google as it places the point of arrival a few hundred metres shy of the actual location and didn’t show the road at all - not reassuring when you are traveling in the dark! The parking area is not at all level and we were only able to prevent a brain thrombosis while sleeping there by hogging most of the available space with our lone vehicle to be able to level out. We checked in with Edgar the night before and the tours begin at 8:00 am. We arranged to do the Colinas Verticales hike with other guests staying at the facility. The hike was led by Bro, who is friendly and knew the way but spent most of the time taking endless photos of the hikers. The hike was quite slippery and muddy in spots, pulling the boots off hikers that had gone in too deep, and is fairly strenuous. The tour is in Spanish only and doesn’t provide a whole lot of information. We were charged 100k COP per person for the guided hike and lunch, which seemed slightly steep in relation to the cost of living in Colombia but we were happy to support the endeavour. It was nice to have both bathrooms and showers available but as noted below, the water is cooold!
Go visit! It’s pretty cool and the scenery on the way in and out is spectacular too

7.5 million Rial, now 17 USD for a room (1 person). I do love Iranian Tourist hotels hotels, have been using them a lot: safe parking for my motorcycle is paramount. Clean rooms, hot shower, AC, kettle...good free breakfast.

Still exist! If closed you must ask someone in the village for the person to open the shop. The manager also makes restaurant on request and also a small hospedaje (we did not see the rooms). The shop offers products of necessity

Spent a couple of days there fixing a leak on the transfer box on my 2006, td5 defender. Pretty clean shop! Mamadou who has very friendly and competent was my assigned mechanics (I spoke French with him). Osman got involved also a couple off times. Mohammed Lemin was also helpful to find parts and coordinate and even drove me back to the hotel while my car was in the shop. The repair needed just an O-ring replaced but it still took couple of days to remove the transfer box, diagnose the issue and put everything back together. They couldn’t procure the exact reference o-ring but after some research, they found an equivalent which is still holding after about 1300km including 800 km off-road in the Mauritanian desert.

Total cost was about 10,000 MRU including 4000 for parts and 6000 for labor, about €250 which seems to be a fair price.
Overall I recommend the shop.

Beautiful and still campsite with a lovely pool in the river for swimming. Only longdrop toilets. No water.
Baboons and monkeys can be a problem, so make sure your food, tents, etc is secured.
The bees and ants where quite pesky during the day.

We stopped here to enjoy the view and have breakfast, it is definitely a good spot to spend the night in a Van. It is flat and the view is amazing. Some buses pass through occasionally.

Place ON the street, not NEXT to the street. We were persuaded to stay the night by the beautiful view. However, there were a lot of very fast cars at night (on weekdays!) and it is very loud on the cobblestones. Therefore we cannot recommend this place for an overnight stay. But maybe we were just unlucky with the amount of traffic?

In this place you can talk with Alpha and Ibrahim, they fight for the rights of the people working in the mines of diamonds. They Will tell you a lot about history and current situation, they even took us to a Diamond Office and we saw the real Diamonds. If you want to come call or send message to Alpha ,+23276785029. increíble experience they spent 2 days with us, you have to pay small amount to the mining sites and to the owner of diamonds and to the guys whatever you feel like It as a donation.

Very quiet place at end of long dusty track. Javier very welcoming and helpful. 10USD pp per night. Power, wifi, showers and loos. Good walks to beach and lagoon. Worth a visit for sure. Shady places to park up.

Stayed here in total for one week. A very good option for staying in town nearly for free. Nearly because they ask for a tip for ,dogfood‘ … We gave 20Q in total and it was fine for them.
No electricity but they have a watertap.
Your trash you need to take with you… or walk it to the parque central where are some bins (🙈). It can get quite Full, but it is a safe, shady and cheap place.

In our opinion: Recommended!

After our one week over here we stayed another week at Verde Eventos, which was nicer but with 125Q per night also much more expensive ;)

Really loved Antigua thow!
