Wish someone would update. Are they knocking on every door or just those who overstay? Where is the suggested alternative? Is it free or is it the $45 overflow parking at Van Damme?

Wide road with a few pullout areas that have a nice view of the bay. Parked south of the trailhead and day use area on wide shoulder pullout. Quiet through the night and no other vehicles around. In the morning did get a person who honked obviously to try an wake us up but just people being people. Would stay here again in a pinch as there is wide open skies for solar and starlink. Cell access is good too for tmobile as I was getting full 5G signal.

One trail leads down to the boat dock about 10-15 min walk and the opposite side has a trail going up the other direction.

It's a big parking lot. Individual areas are reserved for business customers. Others don't. You stand very still.

A beautiful yurt camp overlooking the lake and right beside the canyon entrance. The friendly manager let me stay with my camper truck and use the cafe, wifi and toilets. Very cosy in the rain today. All super clean and modern. Good food too.

We were looking for a full service campground in the general area to rest and refresh after a week of boondocking. We're self-contained in a 25-foot MH and don't use the facilities except for an occasional hot shower. We stayed on Thursday/Friday nights in late June. We were able to get a site without a reservation.

This is a nice, very clean campground. Sites are arrayed around 4+ loops, with a mix of electric/water and full hookup sites. Most sites were dirt and relatively flat. Although most are narrow, they range in size from quite small to pull through for larger rigs. There are trees and other green vegetation between sites to provide some privacy. There's a dump station with rinse and potable water near the exit. The CG has a pool and game room and laundry (did not use). The bathrooms were clean and showers had great hot water and water pressure. We had good ATT and Verizon cell signals. There was CG wifi which we did not use. We paid $65/night ($70 full price) with a first responder discount which was reasonable for a full service CG with an hour from Boston.

We dumped at this location. To be honest, this place isn’t clean. There’s a lot of people living in their RV in bad conditions. We didn’t put water because it was too dirty. If you have to dump it is okay but not the cleanest in the area.

Still accepting people. Friendly. Didn’t hesitate when we asked to stay.
Camped in classroom. Access to showers. Little way out of town but about a 10 minute walk to the square for food. A few panderias there and some restaurants. Felt very safe walking to and from town in the dark. Power sockets in classroom. Wifi available.

Great spot in the area. Is very steep and sharp turns up off the main road. Felt tight even in my defender 90. Don’t need 4x4 to access the spot, it’s fairly stoney and hard packed ground.
Enough space for 2 rigs I’d say.
Seems very quiet and out of the way

Stayed 2 nights here in a room with private bathroom. Very clean and welcoming place.
Entrance is at the back and we parked our motorbikes under their camera. It’s a no through road so not busy and feels safe.

After the end of the new road there is track continuing up the mountain. The track requires 4x4 and high clearance. At this location there is a flat spot where you could also stay overnight. We did not proceed any further but turned around here at this spot. In order to see the volcano you must proceed about 1km further, but the track is very inclined sidewards (too much for us) at one spot . As road construction continues it will becomepossible to get really close to the volcano with normal vehicles.

This is a great RV park. It is a very nice, clean, and safe place to camp in La Paz. It has all the amenities that you need including a hot shower, clean bathroom, and full kitchen. It has electrical hookups, rv dump station, and water. It is walking distance to malecon with lots of restaurants and shopping. Arnoldo, the owner, is very nice and has lots of great recommendations for the area. We will be coming back.

Beautiful campground with several spots, table/benches, firepits, toilet and garbage. Could be a perfect place…
BUT, it’s not a place to rest or enjoy nature… it’s second residence for locals’ parties. People talking very loudly, until late and early in the morning. Also people cut wood in the forest with electric chainsaw all evening (until 10pm) and in the morning too… to make their firewood. really pleasant. Place full of rude people… the problem when it’s free.

Wild camp site for one or two tents, ground not very flat. Easy access from the road. Not hidden. Good 4G. Not very good but better than nothing. Wind 'protected'. Leave the place clean!

Amazing velodrome. Came for bike racing on Friday night and Saturday morning. Easy to find a flat place to park. Food and restrooms when open for bike racing - pros and amateurs. Fantastic community park across the road with 1 mile bike, skating and walking path in wooded setting, nice open spaces for kids and leashed pets. $10-12 to enter to see the bicycle races on Friday night. No chARGE on Saturday morning. Good 5G signal and verizon service.

Both "islands" are the same with regard to entrance fees and tours offered. No difference except that at this one - according to some locals - there's less traffic. We can confirm that from 4 pm on we were alone on the salt flats. Prices are 2.000 ARS per person for the tour by foot (same price with or without guide! We can only recommend to take a guide to get some story of the place and great pictures) and 6000 ARS per car to go to the ojos del mar.

Ok to spend the night before/ after visiting the Salinas. There's traffic during the night, but what do you expect from a main pass to Chile. I really do not appreciate anyone trying to avoid the entrance fees there by going late or early (although of course from photographer's perspective those are the greatest hours). The fees are so fair and the locals/ guides are really nice.

The watertap is quite laborious to fill up canisters. But in the end it works. The water is potable. And I guess it's the only option in town.
