beautiful camp on the river with amazing ablution block. Hot water 24/7. construction of restaurant and bar in progress. expected to finish july 2024. then you will have a stunning view over the river. on the camp you have your on lapa with water /sink, braai pit and picknick table, shade. camp is in the park so there will be wild life. When we were there, there was Hyena and an elephant, and soms blue ververt monkeys (they don't come close). the excellent staff brings you fire wood and puts on the fire in the night and early morning. Ishmael, who runs the camp, is a great host who goes all the way for you. ask him about a boatride or a if you are lucky, a dip between the rocks, near the rapids. please note camp is closed during rainy season. open approximatelt end of april until end of october.

One of the best place along the coast. André is very kind and interesting, we loved the time we spent there. Food is also delicious and not expensive.

Great location, 5 minute walk to the centro. The place where we parked was on the side of the building right on the road, so there was some traffic noise. Super beautiful gardens and very nice family. We had a key and could go into their home to use the washroom and shower.

Got our insurance here. Friendly lady who speaks French.
Unclear what the insurance exactly covers and how the rate is calculated, she couldn't explain why she put us in a certain category for example. Parked in front of the office.

Pullout by a curve with a great opening view to the forest. Very quiet, we arrived late, no other cars around but starting 8 am they were some bigger trucks passing, we left quickly after. Make sure to leave absolutely no trash.

Follow the dirt path down to the river banks. Grassy spot for parking, can fit a good size rig, if you can get down. Rubbish on the ground but not the worst we have seen. Very scenic views and the fireflies come out at night! Some locals came fishing at night but no one disturbed us.

A spot in the parking lot across from the church, where we spent one night. It's a recommended spot, surrounded by all the shops: a hairdresser, restaurant, bakery, etc. The neighborhood is very quiet at night, perfect for a night's stay, but there's no water or electricity available. The homemade burgers 🍔 are delicious 😋, highly recommended.

Great campground. Has a variety of sites to choose from-tents up to the biggest rig. Many have Great Lake views. Wide roads, large spaces. Easy to maneuver for big rigs and most sites are well spread out.

Nice camp with a friendly welcome. 2-wheel drive access ok (don't hesitate to call Mbaso who will come and pick you up). The ideal would be an area dedicated to overlanders with vehicles. Currently, there is only the parking area available (it is in the shade). On-site bar and restaurant

Recommended! Just before the entrance of arenal observatory lodge. Costs half the price (10 vs. 18), you can sleep there and you can add a night hike as well if you want. Saw toucans, monkeys and coatis.

Frans and Anneke named their campground after their sweet little dog, traveld themselves a lot, can tell funny stories about that and love talking to their guests, but also don’t bother you if you have your me-/familytime.

They offer services like laundry, big water bottles and beer for a small price, tents and kayaks for rent and a cool snorkeling tour, witch is very worth to do. They have big heart for all kind of overlanders and they are both very kids-friendly people.

The Don Taco Camp is a paradise on this beautiful beach. As described you can find everything that makes an Overlander-Heart beat faster. There is not much space for RVs, so you better call or write Frans in advance. And once you are arrived, you will stay longer as you first planned. This was true for everyone we met there. The community in between the guests was extraordinary during our stay.

Thank you all for your hospitality! We loved and enjoyed our stay very much and will come back!

Checked this place out, seemed super quiet and peaceful right next to a park and in a nice newer neighborhood area. Saw lot of stealth type vans there. Thank you to the person mentioning about Rv rules...After some reasearch, nothing over 22' long, no trailer or extra vehicles being towed, or over a certain width. I am 26 ft Shuttle Bus with a car hauler so I did not stay but definitely would if I had a different setup. Ll of the parking by the beach was packed on a Sunday afternoon but there were many spots available here.

Kuwait --> Iraq
First checkpoint they ask for Passport, KW Visa, Statement (= green permit) and KT (= carnet). If you don't have any of these they send you back (or so they said).
Drive to the KT booth where they check your car papers and stamp carnet. In our case it took forever because they said the system didn't allow the exit of our car, nobody knew why. After 4 hours they managed to give us the gate pass and we could finally leave Kuwait (by the way, nobody checked our green permit).

Kuwait --> Iraq
At the very beginning there was a kind man speaking English in the booth on the left that registered our car in and told us to get the entry car stamp in the driver's passport. After that we went to the carnet "office" (a container on the right) for the stamps (it was very confused and confusing but we hope we have the right stamps, they did it in the same page as Kuwait). We had to go to a very hidden office (ask around) to pay the entry tax for the car (40.000 IQD, they said no dollars) and then back to the carnet office for copies and gate pass.
We didn't buy insurance and at the exit they didn't ask for it.
Passport was very easy compared: go to arrivals, fill a form, pay (75 $ pp + 3000 iqd pp) and get the entry stamp.

Pablo has a well-organized little campsite here with a toilet/shower house (cold water), several places to sit, a fire pit, a kitchen and very good internet! As long as the hotel room in the main house is not rented out, he opens it up for overlanders to have a hot shower.
It still costs 40k/vehicle/night.
Unfortunately, the water from the taps and the shower was yellow-brown and smelled bad when we visited. Maybe just temporary?

Large open field directly above a river bed that has dried up in the dry season. Lots of parking options for vehicles of all sizes. Be careful when it rains, the paths become soft.

Right on a road with little traffic. Very quiet at night. Little shade, but it gets pleasantly cool at night. The wind is usually here during the day too.

Great campsite. Level, with campfire (make sure to have your CA fire permit). Surprisinly quiet considering you're right of 395 - the berm behind the campsite helps with that a lot. Beautiful area. Tiny bits of snow scattered around, but none on the main road. Road is easily passable with 2WD, no high clearance needed. Saw maybe 3 cars the evening we stayed. Would definitely come again.
