On the BR174 turn into a track by the sign for the Hotel Iracema Falls. You can drive to a car park. Entry costs 10 R pp. From there it’s about 400 m to walk through the forest to reach the first Waterfall. About 1km more, there’s an other called Araras. You can swimm in the river and by the falls. There are many other waterfalls in this region of Presidente Figueiredo.
We asked to stay overnight. They said yes, but wanted 25 R pp for no service. Not negotiable. We left.

Excelent path perfectly doable with a 2wd!! The only one we found in the area. Is just a short drive from the main rout, on the right hand if you are going to the Canyon direction. U can not be so hide from the south (few cars passed by of course) but yes from the north. No ground for tent. Sleep in the car.

A very good place to spend some days in Quito. You can easy reach the Teleferico and the Historic Center by bus. Clean Toilet and hot Shower. Gerd, the german owner, is 87 years old and looks like 65. He is a very nice guy, showed us his really nice hotel. It is also very recommended for backpackers or bikers. We stood in the backyard very safe, in the night it is a bit noisy because it is near the street. Highly recommended for cars under 2,60 m.

Ok, this place is amazing. Here you'll meet Doña Oliva, she is the owner and she lives here in her finca. She will show you for free how the coffee process works, so you will pick your coffee from the coffee trees, you'll clean it, she'll show you where to dry it and she'll make you roast your own coffee. After that you can buy the coffee that you made or other kinds. You can also taste different kinds of coffee here, with different roasting levels, which is amazing.
She owns an association of women who work with coffee and she is really friendly, definetely our highlight of San Agustin! If you are a coffee lover this is a MUST

Very nice wildcamp. Easy acces for all type of vehicles. Loads of space near the ocean. Some turkey vultures and dead trees for making a fire, non-dead trees for your hammock and shade. Bring food and drinks. No one around.

It's a small and quiet (yes, quiet ... except maybe for some dogs and roosters!) Pemex gas station with a tiny "tienda" and very friendly people. Station is closed from 10pm to 06am, but attendee sleeps on premises. Clean bathrooms stay open. Safe and free.

Agreed! Fantastic food, also amazing vegetarian food, very good service. Not cheap, but as all is organic and from the region, it’s ok. Very recommended:)

We liked it very much. We heard a lion in the night roaring about 200m next to us. Really loud and scary!
Price still the same. We saw huge groups of elefants in the Park. We looked at C1 and C3 would stay again in C2.

Alfredo seems a good and fast Mechanic. Not an expert at MB Sprinter. He charged us 240,- € for about 3 Hours work and some brake liquid. No invoice.....at Mercedes in Porto Alegre we had to repair, what he ruined. Warning!!

Nice hostel in central location. For 50 bs pppn ( kids must pay too) you get full access of hostel. Pool, billiards, hot showers, electricity, kitchen, living areas with tv. Wifi is decent,. Breakfast included in price: eggs, bread, cheese, ham, fruit (even strawberries), tea, coffee, hot chic. Staff are very nice. Very relaxed, not a party place (sign expressly saying no marijuana), and quiet at night. We were happy our rig fit...even if just barely. No height restriction on fence, but the trees and potential cars parked on street just outside make it a bit tricky to get in. But we did. We have full size Dodge Ram 3500 with pop up camper. So it's debatable if this can accept big rigs. Two rigs at most can probably fit.

Still, even without the cooking, the place to visit. An institution rather than just a campground, where you're more a part of the family rather than just a customer. So you get to socialize with all the other visitors.
Only thing, if you feel the need to go to Asunción, it is a 250,000 Gs taxi ride away, or figure out a way to use the bus system.

Beyneu to border road/track very bad, dust, very rough, very slow. Brand new road is under construction.
Very tricky indeed at border leaving Kazak, looking for bribe opportunities. I was held for two hours, they wanted a non existent document with a stamp on it. I sat & read my book they gave up and let me go. Hide good cameras & valuables, leave old stuff on display.
Uzbeck border took fifteen minutes - easy. Road to Jaslik is bad. Café stop is good, see the notorious Jasliq prison across the road...

Beautiful laguna on the way to balcon del Pissis.
There is plenty of space here to wild camp.
The road to come here is in good shape, we did it in September and there were some icy part but accessible with 4WD.
The road is so beautiful !

You can reach this beautiful scenery surrounded by colorful lakes and 6000 peaks by driving a 50km on a dirt road.
The road is really well maintained by the company nearby. We did it in September and some parts were a bit muddy and icy. Ask in Fiambala about the road conditions.
The last 4 km were still full of snow, so we parked at laguna Azul and finished with a beautiful hike.
This road is really beautiful and you can wild camp almost everywhere.
We saw nobody expect the friendly workers, flamingos and vicuña !
