that's now my second time here, and it's Everytime beautiful. you nearly can't hear any noise from the highway, so you have an quiet view to the lake. there is one part on the way that was very Sandy and maybe not good to drive with smaller car's, but you can drive around this small section.
the toilets are not in the best condition, but you have at least toilets.
there are no bins, so you have to pack in, what you pack out.

To where the road ends

Wow! And then, wow. This is a great place. Not necessarily the end of the road where you park, which is absolutely fine by the way. But that beach. That river. THAT SUNSET. You can drive onto the beach, and some cars do before coming back. There is a sign stating it's forbidden. It would be awesome, but I'm to much of a pussy. Anyway, the sunset on the beach then staying at the end of the road rocks. Quiet, quiet quiet. A battalion of mosquitoes came out as if on a timer, just after sunset. Come and see for yourself.

As you are approaching the site, you will see the big sign for Hotel Tartar. Continue straight onto the dirt road next to the hotel; do not continue left on the paved road. The entrance is at the end of the dirt road, about 150 m.

We didn’t stay here but went diving with Chopper. They were very accommodating with our requests, for example we went diving in the afternoon, they let us take our dog on the boat, they organized transportation back to Cartagena for our friend etc.
the diving equipment is in good shape, it was newer than what we had in Utila. The boat was big and has a little roof. Chopper also takes pictures during the dive which they will email to you for free afterwards. There really is nothing to complain about the dive experience.

The hostel itself looked quite cozy, there were multiple hammocks and cozy chairs available. Parking is not gated but has cameras and Chopper is from Taganga, the community knows and respects them.

This is not a recommendation. The front desk staff seemed like we were an annoyance when checking in. We booked a cabana because we had a visitor with us and because there’s a kitchen in the cabana. However most of the kitchen ware was either broken or dirty. On top of that the stove was out of gaz and he couldn’t be bothered replacing it, we should use the communal kitchen... Only after we insisted the guy at the front desk could be bothered to replace the gas. The WiFi did only work at the reception and even there it was slow as f...
the only thing that this place has going for it is that it’s quite and a good ac.

I am sure Taganga has other, nicer places than this one. Don’t bother coming here. I am also pretty sure that all the 10/10 point reviews in booking.com are fakes.

Great little place to chill out, coffee, drinks, and lovely delicious food. I had a platter of small tasters - steak chimichurri, llama stew, andino take on Italian tomato salad and andino cheese and grávalax. It was so tasty, would highly recommend. Good WiFi too if needed!

Stayed last night. Abandoned lot (unkept weed control) behind library. This is not the adjacent park parking lot (which is lit) nor the library lot (posted no camping). Some local van lifers stay here too. No RVs nor truck RVs, nor big rigs. If it becomes to busy, it may get shut down so use with care...

OK so the other road from Atyrau to Oral, the A28 on maps.me, is mostly good driveable but bumpy av. 60-70kms/hr except for about 10-15 kms (an hour out of Atyrau) where sections are missing and its like driving over curbs almost. Only got to Almaly so far so will check in again as we progress enroute to Aqtobe.

Big mall where you can buy SIM cards, apparel (international and local brands). There is also a supermarket with international product (imported products are expensive but it can be helpful if you need specific products). There are also Bank ATM’s. A useful place for those coming from Russie.

The Coastal road is absolutely beautiful there are amazing landscapes and nice villages, also some spots for take a swim or camp. But be absolutely careful when it's rainy. The road, often only 3-4 meter wide, becomes a slippery and dangerous surface... Mostley there isn't a rail along the road and it goes are steep up and down hill.

Nice spot for sleep
Just in front of the police school.
Quiet night.
Just some fishermen in the evening and bodyboardmen in the morning.
There is a little road with hard sand, ok with a motorhome.
