A beautiful drive past Lake Monreal heading to Lake Poloma, beware some very steep sections of this road which wasn’t the most pleasant to drive on due to loose gravel. At parts we had to just let our van roll down the hill to prevent the back end skidding out. Some cattle grids along this road as well with a 3.2 meter width maximum warning sign. The road is completely passable slowly.

Family owned farm fresh restaurant/cafe and country store. We had a great handmade burger (5,500CP) and a baked beef empanada (1,500CP). They also offer fried empanadas, pastel de choclo, milanesa, pizza, and a couple breakfasts. We also had great real coffee and artisanal ice cream (sold by weight). The store sells locally produced meat, cheese, eggs, body care products, honey, jams, and more. They have a large parking area and speak english. Everything was fantastic and the family is very friendly. Hours Monday-Saturday 9-21, Sunday 13:30-21.

Just off the highway down a dirt road, nice overlook of the river, bridge and train trestle. Good place to take a quick break. The road down is a bit rocky, but there is plenty off pull off space right off the road.

Overlook: Nice spot to take a quick break. 29.49184, -101.03712

We payed 750000 Rials to go and 225000 Rials to come back from the Island (2 people and one van).
It's better to have the exact amount in cash because to buy the ferry ticket, one local Iranian must pay for you by creditcard and you give this cash to this person.

We’re so full!! Stopped here on the way back from Machu Picchu. We weren’t disappointed. Two dishes: soup and a main with a red corn drink. Like everyone has said, portions are huge! 7 sol each, can’t recommend it more

Now 250 pp. we didn’t feel this place offered any value, the small garden was totally full of tents, with everyone sharing the one small toilet and shower room. The kitchen was never cleaned and had stuff everywhere, and the fridge was so frosted up I didn’t work. All the benches in the garden are broken. The only advantage is that it’s right on the trail head for the largo torre hike. You can also leave your bikes and bags here while you hike, which is tricky to do in this small village. It’s a shame the owners are spending their efforts building more accommodation there, and handing out promo stickers then actually doing the basics.

60Bol for carwash with oil as preparation for the salar. Nice people, took about 15min. If you want to wash away the salt after the salar it costs 80Bol. They use good water (no saltwater)

As others have stated, walked up to the small window and asked to get a US tank filled. Waited 15 min for a truck driver who took it away and was back in 30 min with a properly filled 4.6kg fiberglass tank. Cost 25 Bolivianos, which is probably the best price we have gotten so far in South America. Friendly guys here!

Wow! This man is a skilled craftsman. He custom makes bags, packs, dog harnesses, pouches, Fanny packs, anything!! He can also repair anything like that. He did a great job fixing or old back pack including seams, patching and straps. If you need a custom bag or any repairs, this is the place. Even leather!

this is another boat launch 500 mtrs downstream at the end of town. Advantage to the other places: easy to access, flat, don't have to worry about parking while on the boat trip ( 230 pesos pp as everywhere, clean banos 5 pesos ) you can enjoy town in the evening. Arrived at 5 pm asked about overnight stay - no problem - no cost - accessible all night but guarded.

As said before: very nice place to stay in Cuenca. Maria asked me to give here the correct information about the price: it is 5 Dollars per person per night.
You can also have an organic breakfast for 5 Dollars or a 3 course menu for 8 Dollars.
Internet is good, kitchen and bathroom are very clean. Mauro, the mecanic next door, is very helpful to. Highly recommended place to stay

It is not allowed to stay for the night.
Only option is the Bombero Camping.
2 young guys in a camper van told us (met them in Rio Gallegos) that they were attacked from a local guy with an iron rod, when they try to go to the soccer field. Respect the locals and go to the camping.

nice hostel 2 minutes walking from the cathedral. several options available from in dorm to double room with ensuite bathroom (price ranges from 200 to 350 pesos). parking is limited to 3 spots, nearly impossible for larger vehicles, but there is a private underground parking in calle aguascalientes. kitchen, terrace and bathroom on every floor. you get a fabolous view from the terrace, especially at night when all the buildings are lightned up. the only downside our mattress was very uncomfortable, but we slept ok

No dogs allowed past the entrance gate even though we said they will stay in the car. Unclear as to why they can't proceed past the entrance if they will not leave the vehicle. Disappointing.

We spent the night here. It's a tourist business. 11 lines zip line tour (Canopy), 3 different hikes to Mombacho Volcano (cráter, tigrillo y puma). Mauricio (+505 8872 2555) the owner welcome everyone to stay here for free and the time you want! and also has ton of space for every size (owns two other sites around). They also have Coffee and birds tours. Cacao plantation too. Everyone speaks English. We even saw monkeys from the Zipline! Right now the place is on the left of the road until they finish the restaurant on the right (May 2019) where they'll have showers and wifi.
Don't leave here without a long chat with Mauricio about the recent history of Nicaragua!!
