We really loved staying here! They are ministry offices and the accommodation is normally reserved to social workers which are traveling for work in these areas, but they will happily host tourists as well (for free)! There are two dorms, one female and one male. Both the dorms and and the bathrooms were super clean and the shower was the best we had in all of Peru! They also have a kitchen you can use, the employees were very happy to have us there and we cooked dinner and breakfast together. Also the WiFi is good enough to watch YouTube videos! There are a couple of tiendas in town with a good selection of fruit and veg. What an amazing place, I really recommend to stop here!

Its municipal and its free. 17km from the citycenter, a huge place under the trees, with barbecues, flat ground for camping the night. locals can come for asado as well, but its a nice place for free camping. Good 4G claro signal

Delicious spring water that flows from a pvc pipe. Located in a nice little rest area - no facilities. Super accessible.

If you want to visit this national park and are traveling self contained, (you have your own sleeping arrangements and food to cook) personally I would say skip camping at the lodge and come straight to the Ankasa reserve. It is absolutely not touristy like Kakum or Mole. From the N1 road there is is a wide dirt track, 6km to the gates of the park, no problem 2wd or big rigs. To see wildlife in this park it is necessary to spend the night nearby, the best times for tours are early morning or evening.

We were invited by some park guides to park our van next to the office for Ankasa reserve, lovely completely in the nature of the national park forest. The area around the office at the entrance is a bit run-down but there are toilets and showers, as well as a decent amount of space to accommodate overlanders. I'm sure they would be happy for more people to visit, so ask if it's possible to stay. There is no phone signal or WiFi here.

The basic charge for tours in the national park is 23 cedi entrance fee and then 12 (1$) per hour, with recept. This goes to the office for up keep of the park. From what I could tell the guides must get some kind of basic wage from the national park organisation but probably not much. Of course there is a tip system of paying what you think. The guides we encountered were friendly and did not seem money focused, they genuinely wanted to show their forest.

I think we must have been unlucky as the guide seemed convinced that the week before he had seen duikers, and it's somewhat common or possible to see pangolins and different species of monkeys. But at the end of our 2.5 hour night tour we had seen nothing, Ahmed our guide proceeded to blame the moon for our lack of animals. They were nice enough to only charge us for one person entrance this time as we had seen nothing, I didn't tip any more to the guide as I'd already given them some that day (see post on Ankasa lodge)

Right off CO-74 in Kittredge. Good flow with good-tasting water. Currently .03/gal but increasing to .05/gal later this spring. Currently takes only $1 or $5 to get a code for the water spigot. No change given, though signs say they are moving to credit card later this spring. Bring your own hose.

do you like meat and want to try the local way of preparing it? here you'll find a very very popular restaurant focused on the lechón but there's truly a bit of everything. rice, fried bananas and other vegetarian carbs are available. English speaking staff and a small tourist shop are finally enough here too.
12$ for a big portion of morcilla, lechón and fried bananas

We took our first surf lessons with Jeremy. He is a very patient instructor who is able to explain the steps in a very clear and understandable way. We achieved success on the board in a very short time.
We were lucky. It was Jeremy's last week in Lebu. This is his new base on the island of Chiloé. We highly recommend him!

Stopped here for a lunch break. Would be a great place to camp or park a vehicle.

No, it's not completely hidden from the road, but I'm guessing most passing vehicles wouldn't see you unless you had a bunch of lights on.

It's about 25 meters from the road. If milene was five meters away, that's the wrong spot.

A few large trees for a wind block. Tiny creek for some ambiance.

Great Cracker Barrel with buffer from i-81. Quieter than most Cracker Barrel’s that we’ve stayed at, felt very safe, level parking spots.. The parking lot is lined with hedges so we backed into a nice level spot. There were 2 tow campers and a truck camper parked in the RV spots, Our van and a Class A parked along the back edge.

It is indeed a nice overnight place, but not so many flat spaces.
Our friends could also put their tent under the roof next to the abandoned building.
In the morning we were woken up by a rooster and the construction workers, but it was no problem and we weren't bothered by them.
would definitely recommend on the way from Potosí tu Sucre vice versa, because it's a beautiful bridge.

Be aware you need some ground clearance to reach this spot since the access road is washed up. We had no issues with a Toyota Hilux.

Very windy, no protection what so ever. Lots of trash, seems to be a party spot. Still nice though 10 meters to the beach + the ocean is visible.

Do you miss ski huts feeling? Here you will find it 😍
Black container with terrace to the lagoon - open when open till too much snow😉 (about June is closed by season).
Great sandwiches and unique views of the lagoon. There are also hamburgers and pizza. Local beer, hot chocolate and coffee, any teas. If it's open, surely worth the detour after a trail or biking. Dogs welcome and super friendly guys who run the bar.

We stayed in the flats alongside BLM "Rabbit dry Lake" land just past the private "Rabbit Ranch". you could continue north past the power lines to the edge of the hills but we had low clearance trailer. The hills sides were being used for small arms target shooting at a couple locations. There was work sites repairing high pressure gas lines on other side of dry lake. In the morning therLake. a model RC jet being flown in dry lake. We had a nice lightning show at dark for an hour or so. We enjoyed our one night stay, safe and quiet after dark.

A refreshing change from the pretentious Yuma AZ A class and Fifth-wheel attitude. The most enjoyable feature of this resort is the after hour check in process. If the office is closed there are instructions to go to the back pull thru sites and park. They’ll fix you up in the morning. Had we known that it would have saved us a trip to a CA casino for the night.

The resort is excellent, accepts all “acceptable” units. Vans, B class, C class, pull behinds, and truck campers. Not just the pretentious normal A class & Fifth wheel attitude. Very friendly and refreshing. 2 dog parks, laundry, laundry lines, full hooksups, full activity list. The right place in Yuma for boon dockers who need all the conveniences of a resort. Daily, weekly, and monthly rates too

We stayed in a newly completed bush site with potable water and pit toilet.

Fantastic Mountain View’s and no light pollution to be seen. One of or top spots so far.
Can testify to all previous comments. Markus is a super friendly and highly professional guy.

Similar to the original person posting.

Rooms were available for between 15 000 and 35 000 cfa. We asked about camping and they said it was no problem
We chose a small patch of flat grass away from the buildings and it was fine.

Restaurant on site is very basic. We ordered some food and it took nearly 2 hours for it to arrive so don't be in a rush
Cold soft drinks and beer available and the prices for food are reasonable (paid 3000 cfa for a big dinner of chicken and rice)

Toilets are very disgusting though and there was some confusion in the morning over whether we could or couldn't use them.
Overall the staff were friendly though but no WiFi or real facilities beyond the above on site
We did feel safe though with the guards at the gate so this was a bonus

Was relatively quiet overnight, an easy walk to lots of restaurants/shops. The lot is tight and I would not bring a large vehicle through it. On the 15th Street side are some spots along on the side of the road for easier parking. The entire area is not very level, so if that's important to you, it might be a struggle to find a good spot. Good Verizon signal.
