Namibia > Angola (French people)

NAMIBIAN side is really easy 5 minutes
ANGOLA side you can manage to do it without fixer but you need to follow this process :
When you are done at namibia side, drive to angola side
1- park your car on the right (big parking) and go to the building on the left to get your passeport stamp (no visa anymore for European). >5 minutes
2- get your Angola fiscal registration paper, you can do it for free next to the car park > 5 minutes
3 - you need to have all the following copies printed:
- driving licence
- licence disk (for Namibian and South African car, you can take a picture and print it)
- passeport
- police clearance (even for rental car !!! Be careful it’s MANDATORY and if you do it at oshikango police the service is only open from 8h till 13h and it takes 2 days to get it)
- registration paper of the car
- pictures of the 4 sides of the car (black and white ok)
- Angola fiscal registration paper
Go to the police desk by walking they will take all this paper. You will need to pay around 6300 kwanza / 150 NAD in total for the car. Have cash because for us the card machine was not working..

If you all the papers it can be quite fast.

Don’t hesitate to ask to police officers, they were really helpful and nice, some speak English. We managed without fixers

For the car insurance needed in Angola, they did not ask and we bought it as ensa seguros (10000kz for a month) in Ondjiva

This is a gas station with a convenience store and a deli. Propane tank is located on the east side of the building at the intersection of Cortez Rd. W. and 59th St. W. across from the Walgreens drugstore.

Make sure you ask for a payment receipt. I was supposed to be two nights for the time going to Conackry and I payed two nights on arrival. After that I was so tired that I decided to extend one more night. By the time of paying the night left he said I hadn't payed anything. I asked to the person who I payed to and with out any eye contact and acting very weird he sims to black out and forget everything. after some time of arguing they finally accepted the payment it was left. It was a bit of an stressful and unnecessary situation. The actual price is 150 GNF for a room with fan, hot water and mosquito net.

This is a large gravel parking area by the sea. There are no signs that ban camping and as the island has no permanent residents nobody normally would object. Also most of the area is not lit so you may be completely unseen at night too.
Its a big area too so suitable for larger motorhomes. It can get quite windy what with it being right next to the sea and all.
Its a really nice location and when I stayed the night I was mostly all alone. This was on a chilly mid march night though so visitor numbers in the summer may be a lot higher. No amenities nearby apart from a beach pavilion that is open during the summer. So bring your own food and drink (and emergency toilet). There is decent mobile coverage but no public wifi.

You can fill your RV propane tanks here. Little restaurant inside with Mexican food and American bakery items. Bathrooms around the corner need a key from the cashier.

Propane was $2.99/gallon compared to Delta Liquid Energy in Lancaster which is $4.50 (3/21/2024).

They have a tire air fill up station, but it seems to be out of service.

They have propane fills for RVs but be aware it is significantly more expensive than the nearby 76 in Acton (about 18 minutes away.)

This place was $4.50/gallon while the 76 station was $2.99/gallon as of 3/21/2024.

500 pesos per night. Plenty of space between the palpas so you don’t feel like you’re camping on top of your neighbor. Clean bathrooms with flushing toilets and cold showers. No water pressure in the shower but it gets the job done. Host family is super friendly and available if you have a question. No wifi available here or at the tienda when we were here. Beach is rocky but we had no problems launching our paddle boards. We will definitely stay here again.

A melhor opção para pernoite em Zárate. Os campings ficam em um local deserto, sujo e sem segurança. O YPF muito bom, todos prestativos e nos sentimos seguros.

Paid 20.000CLP for 2 with a small van. Beautiful place but only cold showers and no electricity on site. very weak movistar signal if you walk around. Saw penguins all the time swimming in Front of the beach

Typical city parking garage but quiet at night and is located in the heart of the city. If you are visiting and want to chill downtown, this is a great spot. No fires, no bathrooms. Tons of local restaurants and bike shops if you are traveling with bikes.

We spent a night where Omar was a super and friendly host, he took us to see the central part of the city, he took us to try the typical dishes of Oruro. You can park your car next to his house/workshop and the night is quiet and safe. Before arriving, contact him +591 77159789.

Awesome view, stary night, not perfectly flat, but amazing at Night listening the wavy Beagle. we like it! arrived after 8 pm.

Très beau spot dans la nature. Beatricia nous a accueilli dans sa cours car il pleuvait et c’est juste à côté de la salle de bain. Eau chaude 👍.

On the Ouachita River, roughly 8-10 sites, good for tent or small rig; grills, picnic tables, far in bins, clean pit toilets. No fee. Boat launch. Decent AT&T.
Stayed on a Thursday night; was really peaceful & quiet until 2 aged locals showed up blaring awful music.

We booked through Airbnb. Nice people, basic cabins, good views, some road noise.

We went up at the end of the day and it was pretty quiet. Amazing bit of rock even if the trappings are a bit over the top. The kids loved it, especially racing up the steps.

It’s ok inside. I’m not a fan of the old mattresses and would prefer just simple wooden boards, so I set up my tent in the wind shadow of the Refugio in a stormy night. Did the job. The pit toilet was in a surprisingly usable state.

Thank you Cerro Sombrero! Great wind sheltered place in a very stormy night, hot shower, good place. The biggest two grocery stores (still small shops in the grand scheme of things) of Cerro sombrero are just up the hill. Left of the entrance are two camp sites with roofs and weather protection from 3 sides for up to four tents, albeit with concrete floor, so only for free standing tents.

Got the last spot at about 7pm. Dry camping for RV $18. Good spot to start the day at GC and get moving before the crowds arrive.

Hotel closed for renovation but we were allowed to park under the mango tree and use the facilities. Nothing great but it works, there is security, and the river next to it is beautiful. Right next to the border, good place if you arrive in the area after six pm.

Nice place with a lot of trees. Am allowed to park my van under a tree, and use the facilities (shower & toilet) of an empty room for L150. Food options indeed relatively limited but a local restaurant around the corner where I'm getting cassava leaves with fish and rice for 35L.

Wifi of beach restaurant el ancla (el ancla guest). You have to write "Puravida2024" to get internet. (There is a sign in a tree, between the tables, with this password writen on it) It works very well.

The highway noise isn’t great for the tent sites. But the day use picnic area is wonderful. We brought out cooking gear down there and had dinner while watching the sunset. Infinitely better than doing that at the camp site.

Quite calm place close to a busy road but hidden. Stayed here one night with my tent.

Not so nice, but OK for a night. We arrived late and left early.

Much better than expected after reading some of the comments. Ablutions were clean, swimming pool was working and we used it lots. Only issues were some of the sinks blocked up and odd lights not working. The canyon view is spectacular. Be aware of jackals and baboons coming into the camp at night.

We stayed one night on a park behind of the Firefighter Station. They let us wash our dishes and refill our water bottles. The personel was very nice. Its close to the city of Salsacate and a Gas Station.
Perfect place to spend one night and have our bikes and belongings on a safe place.
