Mandini | Awful place with rude staff, shared composting toilets that smell and shared showers that have no water, no light in the shower and no latch to lock the door. They don't even have a good lake view. Left after one night. |

poudredescampette.com | The PA-100 road is really horrible! Huge holes, muddy passages where 2WD cars get bogged down. We are shaken like potatoes in our Defender. I also recommend at least a high clearance vehicle. Besides these inconveniences, the landscapes are superb! You will cross a huge plateau at 4500m with thousands of alpacas and lamas. Keep an eye on the lakes, we see flamingos. |

poudredescampette.com | Here is the office where you can get a permit to camp in Santuario Nacional de Huayllay. The name is "ANP SERNAMP". This permit is free, with that you can go to Ruta 2 entry and buy your tickets (5 SOL for a car, 3 SOL for adults and 2 SOL for children). You can camp to 2 spaces, first is at the elephant (do not take the first track on the left, but the second one) and the second one is at the Laguna Japurín (wonderful!). |

reardame27 | Several water spigots on the car side (didn’t check the truck side) which have “diverter valves” that help prevent freezing. You have to pull down on that valve (it’s round and located on the underside of the spigot) and turn on the water simultaneously. |

homeiswherethesunis | Great place next to the citadella hill. We paid 16$ for 24h. But you need to download the Indigio neo app. if you don't do this, it's double price at the Kiosk.

helplesswrinkle33 | The Trac-Mac team is very friendly and helpful. In the shop you can find spare and wearing parts, including tires and clothing. If you ask nicely, you can even do your own customer service in the workshop. It's always nice when you meet people who also have gasoline in their blood. |

maturebull96 | This was a great place to stay gets busy during the day and at sunset even though it is cloudy as it was last night. A truck camper pulled up about 9pm and took an hour and a half for them to settle down but all in all I would stay here again. |

northernfreeplay23 | Awesome guy to help you with custom projects. Consulted with him about getting custom rims built for shipping container. Didn't work out because of the shipping companies but he was ver6 thorough with measurements and talking about the process. Lots of locals using this guy as well. inevitablepull91 | Beautiful spot! Good T-mobile service. Nice and flat, big enough for a few campers in a group. Not sure if it's legit or not, sign says no four-wheel'n or motorbiking, doesn't say no camping. Nice big fire ring, thanks to the last person that left some wood. |

mamyrt | Signs from Nebraska Public Power District warn to park at your own risk, but another sign says up to 14 days free. Drove a 38 ft Super C in here but would not try it after rain. Few places to turn around but found a nice long dirt parking area that was level enough to sleep for a night without using leveling system. Strong smell of feedlot while walking the dog but kept door and windows closed and wasn't bothered by it inside RV. Five over the air TV channels and two bars cell service and "good enough" 4G on AT&T. |

Great spot to overnight between Port Aransas and Matagorda Island. First come first serve. Arrive early to get a spot as this place has become popular with RV/ van lifers and fishermen. |

rob.janssen | There are a lot opportunities to spent the night in this beautiful dessert, but this campsite is the most customer service oriented site I have spent the night in during my two year trip in South America. This Eco camping is brand new (2024) and has been constructed using natural products like wood and bamboe. Water from a well and solar powered electricity make this a true new Eco lodge. The entry sign posted “Valle del Cardón “ is on the righthand side if you come from Villavieja. The road leads you to the camping that is a little of the road. But this adds to the feeling of really staying within the dessert. And it is more quiet. The road is bumpy, true, but the short ride is easily possible for all cars and the worst bit is at the beginning. It gets better after that. You will be greeted by your host Stephanie with a nice cold glass of fruit juice. The possibilities are to rent a cabana, use your own tent, rent a tent or stay in your car roof tent car or motor home. WiFi can be enjoyed everywhere, but as always best reception is at the sitting / restaurant area. Warm showers, toilets complete your all your needs. Breakfast, lunch or diner can be enjoyed at the campsite, because as already written in other comments, Stephanie is an excellent cook. I had a breakfasts and a nice diner having goat. A local specialty that requires her to know the day before and is delicious. Stephanie’s hospitality is fantastic. Each morning around 8 she came by my place with a complementary cup of fresh Colombian coffee. She or her husband brings or gets people to places on her motorcycle, if needed. In the evening she and her kids are at the general reception / restaurant area to talk or, in my case, to play games with her son and daughters. Her husband is a local dessert guide, who can take you to an hours long hike in Desierto Gris after which he takes you to enjoy the afternoon in a local swimming pool overlooking the rocks in the dessert. Costs 10.000 pesos, excluding parking fee. A nice environment to be at in the dessert afternoon heat. It goes without saying that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this camping site, that is, if you are looking for a nice new pleasant camping side where everything works and you like to be treated as a guest, or better as a friend of the family, rather than just a number. Costs per night based on spring 2024 price levels:

jackie.ricc | There’s a tiny parking lot right by the beach with bathrooms, but you can keep driving onto the beach, that’s where everyone is parked. We have a FWD transit connect with no problem driving on the beach bc the sand is packed. Definitely mosquito heavy here right now, but the wind off the water is keeping them at bay. Beautiful sunset, gonna have a great sunrise in the morning. We arrived on a Friday night so the beach is poppin with lots of big trucks and music and 4 wheelers. Got a beach pass ($10) from “the big store” (ace hardware) 3 miles east of here. It’s also a HUGE grocery store with regular prices you can buy anything from ice, to booze, to food. 10/10 would recommend this cool low-key camping spot! |
