open area with 4 to 5 campsites. maybe more if you're closer together. at least 3 big enough for bigger rigs. road 561 is paved, then dirt track to the camp sites. it's all part of the San Isabel national forest. once you pull in there are a couple small sites to the right, go over the hill directly to a large open area people have camped but also use as a shooting range. if you follow the road ro the right it comes to a big open grassy area where there is plenty of room for multiple big rigs or whatever. the dirt road in wasn't too bad. we scouted ahead in our kia soul and then just drove on slowly in our 36ft Super c.

Very basic camping next to the river, no ablutions or fresh water.
Second camp site (Kolo campsite) approximately 5 km further along the same track, with ablutions and kitchen areas(we did not visit this site as we were happy by the river)
Pay for permits and camping at the office in the village just before you leave to tar road. (Kolo)

You must leave your car next to the main road and walk 1 min on a road blocked from plants and bush (it’s not difficult to walk in). At the the of the small walk, at the top on the hill there is quite, calm and flat meadow close to small pond. The only noise are the frogs.

Within a cow and sheep pasture. Quiet and private.
There are a lot of dogs barking, so be aware to chose your spot away from sheep

Pullout between eucalyptus trees, well hidden from the rode and houses. Had a quiet night here, nobody went by.
There are many other possibilities if you look around when driving up to the rock.

Steep, narrow and rocky way down to the camp. 4 pitches, terrassed on a steep meadow, each with brai. Abolutions are old, a little bit run down, no light, but clean, sink for dishes.
Near the camp is some kind of pool in the river, where you can swim. It is a peaceful place, you hear only the river. Not recommended for big trucks, only cars, 4x4 or at least high cleared would be good.Good for one night if you are driving the backroad along the border. The backroad is very senic, but not in a good condition, steep, rocky and partially washed out, but locals do it with their minibusses.

Very good wild camping spot. As the wind was a little bit stronger we drove deeper downhill where we were covered from the hills.

Several locals referred me to Lamont. Excellent mechanic with a workshop and few people working for him.

A local showed us this place because the other one on iOverlander is more for Russian cars he told us.
Lot of small shops, we got spare parts for our Land Cruiser 100 here, everything was on stock, also special parts for the steering and of course oil.
Call Refat if you need help, he speaks English and is very friendly +77076229040
If you need a mechanic, they're on the opposite side. No experience with them.

Great place to stay between Puno and Cusco. We camped inside Aguas Calientes. There were planty of spots where we could choose where to pitch our tent. Staff super friendly, there are showers next to piscina semiolimpica. We could also use hot springs, few different pools with different temperatures. We paid 8 soles pp, that was a price of the entrence to the pools.
Take something for breakfast with you, as in the morning there was nothing.

Great place. There are several options also at the top of the road even if you don't want to drive all the way down.

Good spot to rest after the border crossing. We saw ticks on the ground, and they follow you when you change your spot so be careful when you go out for your needs.

got dropped off here by a local who told us it was a good place to spend the night.

we paid 1000 between the two of us for an air-conditioned room. rooms with fan also available for 700, prices seemed to be fixed

cold shower. wifi works pretty well. power did cut off a couple of times at night (in the whole town) but only for about 10 minutes at a time.

overall place was okay for a night, nothing special really.

We stayed her in the off-season. No "no overnight"-sight. So it seems fine to stay at the parking lot.

Beautiful location for camping. They were only 3 other groups when I stayed and were all spaced out well. The pit toilet was clean as others have mentioned, but the door does not latch and it stays open by about 2 inches so if you plan to use it, I would bring a door watchman with you or just don’t dally and hope no one else comes up while you’re in there.

The night wasn‘t quiet, a lot of music from the gas station, load cars,… we didnt parked at the back though, maybe a better idea.

Showers are now 1.000 per person.

This point is at the bottom of the canyon at the bridge over Rio Caspalá. The road leads to the small town of Caspalá where you can find a couple of options for food and accomodations.

The road is a spectacular switchback descent to the bottom of the canyon and then an equally spectacular climb up the other side. Not for large vehicles as the turns are tight and there are a few steep spots.

Awesome camping spot with a beautiful view of the lagoon! Has enough space for any size of rig and the dirt road was in good condition, no 4x4 needed.

Very nice community centre that offers a library with work spaces and good WiFi. There is also a public pool in the same building that can be used for CA$5 with clean showers.

Slept here the night before entering Yellowstone. We asked inside and they said we can stay wherever we want behind the building. Parked relatively close to the building in the range of light and cameras so we felt safe. Noise coming from coming and going trucks, engines running all night long and honking trains. It's normal for a place like that, just keep it in mind if silence is important to you.
Went in in the morning to grab one of the best and cheapest coffees I found in the US.
The store itself has no wifi, but close by Albertsons has. If you park close enough to it you might catch it over night.

Lovely lodge, with beautiful decorations and very clean. We stayed 2 nights. We had dinner in the place, you pay extra. Delia and Wilburt are so lovely, friendly and accommodating. They live in the island with their family and do all the cooking themselves. They also brought us to the other Islands to visit them( at a little extra cost). Overall we enjoyed the whole experience, and we would recommend them. ( family travelling with two kids and grandparents). We were able to park our large motorhome in a secure place in Puno.
