Open area in the tall pines.
Nice and quiet. Plenty of camping spots

The road to this spot is extremely overgrown and almost impossible to get through with a regular vehicle. Road is also pretty narrow too with a steep drop off so you’ll have to reverse going back.

We camped here and had a great time.

Only $10 pppn which is super great value considering the location and facilities (ablutions aren't great, but fine). There is also a swimming pool plus restaurant and bar (meals around $10, beers $3.5).

On Tuesday nights they have a drumming workshop. Friday a 'loud music' night and Saturday a DJ. Once every 2 months on a Saturday they host an arts and crafts market which added to the atmosphere.

Also the rafting activity we booked through then was even more discounted than the tour operator running the rafting!

internet is poor and washing machine is $10 for 15kg but it didn't really wash our clothes well.

On top of the old road. In the first bend is a place for two cars on a flat ground with an amazing view. Can get a bit windy during the night. cca 50m from the main road. The old road is ok, the first few meters are a bit uneven when coming from top.

couldn't find the beeline shop. A small shop with electronics across the road sells sim cards. The boy there will persuade you to buy Tele2 because he said the speed is better. Buy Beeline instead. Tele2 has very bad coverage and beeline is everywhere.

Beautiful sandy campsites, not all are level. Sites are not to big and the small braais is VERY close to your neighbour. Ablutions are fantastic. Staff super friendly and helpfull. The shop has a wide variety of goods and not pricy.

What an amazing stay in the campsite!!! The campground was clean, has a great kitchen, hot showers and flush toilets.
There is no sign at the steam engine as the lodge part is closed, but the campsite is open. Call the number, let them know you are coming. The gate by the steam engine location is locked so you will have to call when you arrive. This farm really is amazing and I hope they can get the lodge back up and running!!
We paid 300pp to tent.

Nakawa Community Campsite is special!!!! The warm greeting by Cynthia, Sambula, and community members welcome you right into Nakawa. They have an amazing setup campsite but I chose to stay in the vet comfortable chalet. Internet is spotty but the conversation around the kitchen fire is wonderful. Showers, but not heated. I was prepared a hot pan of water to bathe in after a days cycling. Flush toilets.
Cynthia prepared me a delicious traditional meal. I enjoyed evening tea and great conversation around the evening fire.
Cynthia, Sambula and the school staff are doing incredible work supporting g the school, the community and many orphaned children through the camp. Thankyou!!! Their love and pride of the Nakawa community is amazing.

Directly across the road from the dispersed camping spot. Upper level is graveled and lower level is paved.

Traffic dies off after dark.

One other vehicle spent the night with us in the lower level. Several vehicles appeared to overnight in the upper level.

Pit toilets. No water. No cell service.

We Stayed 2 nights here, on the second night security stopped by & said we had to leave in the morning. A nice officer talked for a few minutes with us, telling us his supervisor had come by earlier in the day to check on a project & noticed us on the pipeline which is buried on this section we were on. So normally they wouldn't say anything, but it's illegal to camp here, so stay at your on risk.

I am an overlander travelling around the world. I was wildcamping at Jerico Mirador when John came across my car. He liked it and wanted to know more about my travels. Long story short he offered me his hostels shower and bath free of charge. I did bite on his offer and visited him at his hostels the next morning. A great hostel at a great price. It is not a party hostel. If you are overlander you can park the car in front and use the hostel facility for 20k pesos. just keep in mind one end of street is closed and backing with big rig can be an issue.
The family lives and run the hostel. A true great facility in Jerico. Photos attached

We really liked this spot. Friendly host family, flat spot, manicured gardens, lots of grass for kids to run around on, cute alpaca that loves carrots, $10usd per vehicle (not a per person charge). We would have stayed longer but their dogs can’t be trusted with cats so we had to leave them in van instead of have them outside as they prefer. Would recommend!

The very best option in town! African food with African people. I ate a big portion of rice with beef and vegetables for 38 pula.
Then I bought papa with beef and veggies to take away.
Nutritious, filling and cheap.
Not worth to go to Muzungu restaurants. :-)

Large parking area for castle and park for all size of rigs. If guards show up ask very friendly guards - no problem to stay. WC close by at entrance building, whole park is fully video secured, guards also circle in park 24h. Great view on town centre daytime and at night.

The main road is great coming out, the turn off to this site is a bit rocky and bumpy, there’s another site further along this little road but it’s probably better for car and tent campers. but it’s surprisingly level and right next to the creek. AT&T service is surprisingly strong here. Probably only large enough for a 20-25’ van or a car and tents

Great place, a quiet and rather pretty stop. I’ve definitely paid for louder campsites. It’s fairly open, but the resulting breeze keeps the biting bugs down. Make sure you enter by the EAST entrance, not the west Hanna Road as shows on Google maps. The west road is an ATV track and scratched the crap out of my van. 😳Lesson learned. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is by far my favourite free campsite I’ve found so far. Right on a little lake, facing an old historic saw mill and the historic Sherbrooke village.

Nice area to spend some time. It’s actually Forest service and it’s very dusty. No facilities, pack it in pack it out. Clean and quiet with minimal highway noise.
