The food here is insanely good and filling. 15,000 pesos for the menu del dia. It’s vegetarian, but sometimes they have vegan options. My vegan dish was fantastic, and my girlfriend’s vegetarian dish was also great. If they don’t have a vegan option that day, Masala restaurant is right next door.

Checkpoint is still there. Not exactly this location (a bit north, I believe). We weren’t stopped.

There were lots of stops due to road construction and only one lane being available to drive, but anywhere between 5-20 minutes and we were let through each time. Maybe 10 or so between San Agustin and Mocoa. Nobody asking for money.

We entered on the west of the bridge. It’s a nice clearing big enough for a 4-5 vehicles if you don’t mind being cozy. It has a small turnaround loop and 1 picnic table. Road noise is considerable, but dies down at night. We are not at the edge of the stream or river, & neither was nearly as loud as the road. I have a Canadian SIM card and have zero cell service here. My companion has verizon international plan & has 2-3 bars here. Would definitely stay here again for the night if passing through.

This is a nice place to get your Albuquerque souvenirs. Dont miss the Old Town Ice Cream Parlor. It was one of my favorite stops!

Agree, there are loud cars and motorcyclists driving by, It must be a thing for youngsters to do here. The parking lot was otherwise just fine. only one other van here tonight.

A wunderful place with wunderful owners. Located directly at the Laguna Mar Chiquita and You can walk on a kind of wooden jetty to be closer to the water. Easy to acces via Ruta 17 (which can be heard a little bit, but absolutely not disturbing). Various places for cars of all size (big rigs no problem), absolutely peaceful and quiet. Many parillas, Wifi works good, no Claro signal, electricity on very many sites. We saw hundreds of flamingos.

We are here for the second time - recommended. On days with only low wind be aware of the mosquitos.

Big monastry, we stayed in our car for the night 1200 Naira pp, meal 700 pp, we did not eat there. There was no shows available because there was a big meeting. Lovely environment, Lots of space for cars. There is a little shop for soft drinks, Bread and cookies.

Be very careful. No parking 12am-2am on certain days. Cops gave me a damn ticket and was ticketing everyone there. The signs are not clear by any means.

It was a nice place for one night. Right on the Mississippi, although the camping area is down in a well. basically. the fort was pretty cool and I awoke to mist on the Mississippi in the morning. lot of mosquitoes.

great spot, quiet near river, close to road but not much traffic at night. stayed in April, didn't have to pay yet, water taps weren't running and no fee envelopes. $5/car+ $2/extra car.

Rec center with gym, pool, locker room. $8 for daily non-resident drop-in. Huge, modern facility not at all busy on the Friday morning I was there. Free wifi here, as well as in downtown Wytheville.

perfect place for the night. in the beginning of the road a lot of RV. Just drive up a bit and there is nobody. we didnt go up the hill we have 4x4 but for us its not worth the risk. KEEP CLEAN!

If the previous spot on this road is taken you can drive about a third of a mile further and there’s another spot to park on either side of the road.

Camping Gamcelat is very nice place to visit San Augustín and the nearby archaeological sites. It’s close to town (5 min walk and 2 km to archaeological park).
The beautiful place is a grassy area with a few trees, wonderful and relaxing to stay a few days.
Patricia the owner is very helpful and friendly, she also organizes horseback riding and motor tours to more distant places.
I can highly recommend.

Good for 1 night. We parked in the back where the trucks stop and spent a fairly quiet night

As described. As long as it hasn't recently rained, the ground is solid enough that you can pull off somewhere else if someone is at the listed site.

There was a couple there when I arrived. It looked like they were locals who had gone to watch the sunset. I parked elsewhere and waited for them to leave then had a nice night here.

Road was a little bumpy/rutted right at the beginning but in better shape after that.

Check out Miracle Hot Springs on your way to or from here. Had a nice soak before arriving here.

We decided to try and stealth camp at the travel lodge motel parking lot, come to find out there’s a gravel lot right behind if you go through the motel parking lot. No no parking signs anywhere. We stayed here a night with no interruptions and plan to come back again before we head to Denver. An RV pulled into the lot as well in the middle of the night. WiFi from the motel accessible and works pretty well. Bigger rigs should be fine there’s plenty of space
