Nice sanctuary and setting to see the monkeys and other animals. Recommend doing on your own without tour company.easy to get here, and just one hour is all you will be here. Easy parking across the street and safe with bathroom.

Stopped here, but the place seems to be deserted. Lots of levelled areas and the structures left in tact had no one around. Could most likely stay here for free! Lots of space and bathroom doors were open on our drive by.

Overlooking all the villages in the area. Drive up from the road to Kavak. 2km offroad but great views, specially at night with all the light off the villages. Not the best track but i was ok with 2wd.

Free. Large, flat area for camper vans with fire pits. Walk down beach or through woods for plenty of fire wood. Close to beach where there are camping spots. Solo again. Very peaceful.

Difficult route to Sette Cama, but worth the ride. First 20km good piste. After that a lot of soft sand. We had the luck there was heavy rain the dat before, so managed to do it in 4hours. Did have to cross some pretty deep puddles.
We were with 3 bikes and a 4x4 van.

26US dollars to walk 3 km with some hanging bridges. Just an expensive hike. I chose not to do it. But at least enjoyed my lunch in the picnic tables with an amazing view of volcan arenal. Toilets avilable as well for free. You pay just for the hike

Forgot to mention: before getting the import papers for Guatemala you'll have to pay the 160 GTQ.
There are two windows on the side of the desks where you can pay. Not sure which other currencies are allowed.

Pros: Nice bar, great views, cool ambience. Fast wifi and nice staff.
Cons: bad food (burger tastes just like curry!) and overpriced beer!

All of the northern area of the island was flooded when we were there (May 2018).
Not sure if it's like this all year but right now it's impossible to get here by car.

Stayed here one night to explore the island.
Some shade under a few trees and nice view of the lake.
Feels safe, locals are very friendly.
Cons: it's very hot and loud from the bars across the street. We were there on a Friday and music was on until 1 am.
Could still sleep pretty well thanks to earplugs! :)

Nice camping site next to the lake - good overlook. Basic toilets and cold showers. Camping 400pppn. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice restaurant but it takes a while to get the meal, so you should order in advance. Really good WiFi. Recommended.

After having entered Chile 5 times sofar with our right hand drive vehicle. We were refused entry at this border. The police officer advised me that Chile law does not allow right hand drives to be driven in Chile. After 30 minutes of debate. And able to show we already had been given permission to drive in Chile. plus copies of the TIP. With help of Aduane and immigration officers we were allowed to proceed.
pfffff. anyway still not sure what the law states in Chile.

camping in carpark or across the road no longer allowed. We were send away. the pools are rustic and in nice location. BUT. if you drive a big rig you are not allowed to drive down to the carpark. this means a 2km walk. Next around 400 steps steep down. I go to those type of pools for relaxation not to bushwalk. BUT IT IS CHEAP and the setting is nice. but i would spend few more dollars for easier access.

Slept here for a night cost 100qtz per person that price includes bkfst the next morning and a 1 hr steam session. If you don't want the bkfst it's 75qtz pp. In our opinion the breakfast was worth it... it included unlimited coffee, fresh watermelon juice, breakfast cookies a small bowl of oatmeal plus your meal (you could choose from 5 or 6 options). The steam was a great added bonus... Def recommend this place but if you have a bigger rig it could be tricky to find flat ground.

This was a super fast and easy border crossing--Ecuador into Peru--in November. No copies were needed.

Crossing from Peru into Ecuador today took about 3 hours total. Easy out of Peru once officials came back from lunch (they went early...)

Ecuador immigration was fast and easy, but Aduana took more than 2 hours for our 2 bikes because they do everything with WhatsApp. After it was all done, we needed 1 copy of passport/drivers license/moto paperwork/immigration paper front and back. we got it all on one piece of paper each.
