Nice big remote parking area suitable for RVs. Somewhat level. Well lit. Casino Shuttle comes by periodically. No services. Shuttle station has trash receptacles. Short walk to casino and outlet stores. Gasoline and other services available about 5 miles west in Alpine. As always, it's best to get the blessing of casino security before staying here, but they are pretty agreeable.

Chose not to stay overnight. As in most San Diego areas, signs everywhere saying no overnight parking between 2 am and 6 am. So a citation may be issued at the discretion of parking enforcement. Very decent public restrooms and a free dump station! I saw several seedy rigs with questionable inhabitants that seem to be living in this lot. Stay overnight here at your own risk.

This place is only open on certain days. I arrived after dark on a Friday night and the place was totally closed. I checked both entrances and both were gated off. Big disappointment. Make certain it is open before showing up there.

Good view on the valley, very quiet at night even if it’s next to the road. Very nice place. We slept in a van and some friends camped next us!

Great pull-out for a quick stop or for a few days of exploring around Durango. We stopped here in route to Moab and would definitely stay here again. Several rigs showed up later in the evening, but it was quiet and peaceful. Plenty of down wood if conditions are good for a fire. There was unfortunately a few mule deer carcasses that had been dropped there, but that is expected with spots so close to the highway.

Beautiful with almost alpine view. You will hear the inhabitants of Ait Tamlil but we - for once - had no visitors.
If the ground is wet, DON'T drive there without 4x4.

A beautiful rest area right by a lake, it’s next to the road but pretty quiet at night.

Camping in the beautiful Bisti Badlands at the end of the road ca 1 mile past the two parking lots for Bisti Wilderness. Nice view, quiet. You can camp at the Bisti Trailhead but there will be a lot more campers.

The only camp site in the area is very small … so this spot provides for an alternative if you find Kamping Gijrokaster already full. It is a bit off the road, a high hedge provides for some coverage and there is hardly any traffic during the night.
check out your neighbour 200 yds up on the other side of the road, nice chap, possibly offering a raki :-)

This place is amazing! The town is mediocre but this rest stop is a beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert. We stayed one night in an area tucked behind the main rest are. Follow the dirt track from the road south of town and aim for left of the large white container. Windy afternoon but it died down when the sun went down. Safe, quiet, plenty of firewood and bbq pits. Also has a playground and portapottys.

Tried to camp here. No one around when we turned up. No bell or any way of getting anyone's attention. I wouldn't bother with this place. Go to Tierra Encantada around the corner where you can stay for free.

nice campground, free hot showers, flush toilets, fire rings, picnic tables and trails to the beach. paid $20 for a tent site in our 24' rig, no problem. had to dump across the street because campground dump station was closed. a little too close to the freeway for us. noisy during the day.

Drove our 4x4 right onto the beach and parked between the dunes. Beautiful spot to camp but very noisy until late at night because of people riding their quads through the sand. We have an Oregon ATV permit for our car, but I don’t if that’s a requirement if you want to go on the beach.

Clean, well organized campground within 15 min drive to Tecate border. 22 USD for tent camping site. More if you need a site with power. Very quiet at night, except for the yipping of wild coyotes, which kind of adds to the ambience.

This place is right at the beach. Accesible trough a pretty rough road (lots of roots) of 8 meters long that lead’s to a great flat sandy spot to put on your small camper/tent. You can watch a beautiful sunset here. Bonfire not alowed.

Nice old watermill open to visit for free. There is also a restaurant for local dishes in this place. There are lot of walking trails in the beautiful area.

We didn't stay overnight but in front of the watermill also a big parking is found, probably staying overnight in a campervan should be no problem.

A good place for a night. Can be shrouded in mist and some traffic noise. You have to bump over a kerb to get in.

Be aware: because of renovations they will be closed until June 2018.
We slept here with two 4Runners with rooftoptent and a dog.

The toilets and showers are super clean and warm. The place is nice and the owners are super friendly. They have 3 guard dogs on leashes and one super sweet little dog that runs around the place (all dogs are female).

Would absolutely recommend, especially because there is not a lot in/around Drake Bay for overlanders.

It's our first time in Mexico so we did our homework reading everything we could. But when we arrived everything changed in a second. We drove slowly into the fenced area, looked around for Migracion office we couldn't see. After the green light on a gate we moved forward, custom officers showed us to pull over. They lightly searched our car, gave us questions to which we mostly nodded in agreement: turistos, La Paz, agua... And then they let us go! Suddenly we were in town and nobody wanted to see our passports. So we parked the car in the nearest street, gathered all our documents and went back. Guys with guns showed us turnstile gate for pedestrians. We're back in the fenced area looking for Migracion office and thinking where we were supposed to park the first time. Nowhere. This is the correct procedure. In the office we filled out the turist card, paid to the guy $33 USD each (?! too much, is he keeping part of it?!). We had only $20 and $5 bills so he took $65 smiled, said we pay $1 next time and then he printed official receipt which we all signed. Seemed legit. Next we went back to town to get copies of our tourist cards (we already got copies of vehicle documents, driver's license and passport), back to the border to Banjercito office where nice lady processed everything for $51 (TIP) + $200 (deposit) and told us several times we will get the money back when we leave the country. Now we only needed to walk through the town to American border office where we need to hand back the visa waiver hoping they will not let us proceed to the USA for another round of border fun. Luckily the US officer was really nice, took our cards and opened the gate for us back to Mexico.
