After the wine tour we could as well stay in the backyard on the grass for free. Also at night the toilets were available. Nice, professional and little fancy looking place and very friendly people!

This was the easiest border crossing since Cape Town, going north. They did not even check the dates on my expired visa (long story) and they stamped the Carnet. Arrived on a Saturday morning at 8 and there were no trucks queuing at that moment.

Chico and Bruno of Tome Auto Center did awesome autobody work on our truck. They also do general mechanics. Very professional and efficient. Incredibly friendly. Recommended!

Nice place to stay in Mahahual. Thatched cabañas with fan and private bathroom for 450 per night (room is for two). The place has a private beach. Very well located a bit further south from all the tourist Mahahual, but within walking distance from it to go get dinner/groceries. This side of town is cooler with more breeze.

Has inside parking as well.

Parking lot at the Visitor Center. No « no overnight parking » signs although I don’t think they would really allow it..

We ended up here after we got kicked out of the other overlander spot in Point Reyes Station.

If you plan on sleeping here, arrive as late as you can and be very discreet. Watch out for wildlife on the road!
Bathrooms on site.

Hostal with campground area. The space can fit several vans, large ones too. Kitchen, Bathroom and shower close by camping area, hot shower a short walk away though trees. Wifi at reception. Restaurant attached. $4 pp.
The reception and parking area are separate and you can't drive to reception directly as there are railroad tracks. Just follow Google maps to Hostal Aya Huma, there are a bunch of signs for it in the neighborhood. Park and walk across unused train tracks to reception/restaurant. They will direct you to parking area. Cool place!
They do sweat lodges for $15 pp right by the camping area.

Austrich farm that is run for more than 11 years by a German family. The owners Lothar & Anne are wonderful characters that offer charming en suite apartments or fully equipped bungalows. Retreat in the middle of unspoiled nature surrounded by lots of animals!

Gorgeous spot on a tiny island right off the highway. Right by the bay, great view, fire ring. Level, breezy.
Visible from highway, some highway noise, quiet at night. No facilities.

A pull off marked by a small National Forest Campsite stake. The pull off is on the right just before you cross the bridge over Lake Santeetlah on HWY 143. You will see a sign for Cedar Cliff Church on the left side of the road. The turn off is a gravel road on the right just before this sign and guardrail for the bridge. The site itself is hidden from the road by a stand of trees, but you can still hear the traffic. It was dark and relatively quiet at night. There are a few fire pits and some trash lying around (seemed like from local teens partying there, but we didn't see anyone and it was a Friday night). There are a few short trails that take you down to the shoreline of the lake, which is a beautiful blue/green colour. The water was cool, but not cold and good for swimming. We walked across the bridge and hiked down Blue Boar Rd to the resort there. You can swim from the dock, and we saw another couple there fishing. The dock itself belongs to the resort, but we saw a sign that indicated the water access was open to the public. Good place for a night, no amenities. Cool, winding road makes for a nice drive.

Follow the gravel road past the gps coordinates until you cross a small bridge. After the bridge there's a house. After the house make a sharp left and you'll find the road that leads to the river.

River was kinda swampy with lots of bugs. Did not stay overnight.

Long winding road (paved most the way) with pullouts and forest service roads with dispersed camping. Several roads are 4x4 but many are not. Quite spot with plenty of wood for campfires. Great AT&T signal.

Inside the rv park, here you can repaired eveything about your rv. Jorge is very professionnal and has a lot of experience in rv. He find a water leak in our tank of potable water, that we couldn’t find for a long time and do other things to make it new. There are used to renoved very old or destroyed us rv. Price was ok.
Unfortunatly the rv park is not nice at all, we slept in the parking lot in front of to the museo de ciencas.

Not budget eating but really good ceviche if you are into seafood.

We got the "Ronda Mixta" which was a very large sampler plate of different types of ceviche and seafood for two really hungry or 3 people for 42 soles.

Off the PE1-SC between Huaytara and Ica. Large flat area by the river(dry river). Enough room for a few rigs, barely a soul on the road, no homes in sight.

This road is 25% good dirt 75% paved. The paved section is very narrow(only one lane) and curvy so if you have a long rig it will be challenging a little. Crossing cars might be a challenge. On a motorcycle it was a blast.
