Great spot. Can hear the road nearby, but feels very remote. Steep entrance road isn't so bad as it first appears; no troubles getting down gravel road in a 2wd sprinter.

Joep and Juulie are wonderful hosts. Their house is amazing. Spa-like shower that is solar-heated, very nice. Internet reached the camping area because they installed a wifi booster. Sink you can use to wash up. Compost and recycling. There is a stove that they can hook up if you need. There are two ways to walk into town from there, and very close to Camino Real. Wish we could have stayed longer.

A beautiful place. But at 10:30 pm the police came and kicked us off. Even parking anglers had to go. I think this was illegal. But it is not so good to argue with policemen.

Just before you go down a 16% grade there is a pullout. Amazing view of the ocean and when we were here the Gannets were putting on an air show. This spot is very close to the road but at night there is no traffic and it is quiet.

Nice place to sit outside, but we were not lucky with the food we ordered. The chicken on the chicken burger was almost nonexistent and very dry. They told us the chicken pieces were not nice ones when they delivered the food, but that was an understatement. In the end they solved it by not charging us for the burgers, but we would have preferred them telling us beforehand that the chicken burger was no good today so we could have ordered something else.

Swang by here for the night but realised it's not a rest Really, just a pull out next to the highway. We didn't stay here, wasn't comfortable with the dual lane traffic right next to us! Much better is the next stop on here northbound, the single lane entry.

Want to save $50 but still get an ocean view? Want to avoid the nearby PCH pull outs? STAY HERE! One of the nicest spots in Cali, stunning Oceanside view and far enough from the highway for a peaceful night's sleep. Saw dolphins too :)

Nice site right at the lake, a floatplane was parked nearby, the road doesn’t disturb us, good for 2-3small campers,

Beautiful night here full of stars. Easy to find a flat space. We heard some cars passing by far on the road, maybe we've should have gone a bit further.

Very unfriendly woman she said the cost was 8.9 per liter when locals paid 3.8 per liter. I asked her why so expensive and told her it was dishonest to charge us so expensive knowing it is not in the law to charge more because foreigners plate. I asked her to charge us less without factura but then she got mad and refuse to serve us. Even the other local people try to help us saying the woman we would pay whatever she ask but she refuse tu serve us anyway.

searching for a safe place Found this gem right on the beach on a unused space ...Great kids and families to ask lots of questions but safe as chips all humble enough. This is a resort that hasnt happened yet! the real deal fishing/ mango/platano farmers hide away! place you fish order and mangos for the next day as you chill on the drift wood beach NO BASURA !
stars are unreal and the sea breaze is welcoming
The adjacent sports field is good to go but not much breeze and sea crashing waves
There is a beach parking in the centre next to the holy shrine but the restaurants are on a music competition as usual
respectfull and welcoming... no machetes nor pistol attack here

We stayed here before we got the El Chepe to Cooper Canyon. We paid $200 pesos and he allowed us to plug in. The owner was extremely friendly and accommodating. He let us do laundry, use a bathroom and shower in one of his guest rooms and took us to the station and collected on our return. We left our camper there for 4 nights. The taqueria opposite did an amazing potato, carne, cheese and tortilla dinner.

The hostel owner manages it as if she's doing her guests a favor. The rooms are bad. There are 4 cats that enter the rooms and enormously hinder the cooking. The hot bath is complicated in the morning. If you can, choose another place to sleep. I do not recommend it.

very secure. great views. lovely owners. good WiFi. but beware of the mud when it rains. the field turned to mud overnight (from what felt very firm when I arrived).

I have 4x4 small light van and it was still difficult to get out. I did manage in the end without any help but I messed the field up.

This is a tiny beach, turning off the main road (not loud though). No signs indicating that you are not allowed to camp there. Beautiful view on the lake. Bins for rubbish. We stayed one night with a small tent and another group of three with a big tent joined late that night. Neighbours right next to the place, but didn't say anything.

Perfect place if you need a steamy and really hot sauna. Don Lionel, the owner, is very welcoming and can take you for a hike into the surrounding moutains, too. Only 80 Quetzales for two persons. From the outside the building looks a bit shabby, but inside the sauna is perfect. The nights on the parking lot were quiet and felt safe. Electricity is available.
Indigenous markets in Almalonga and nearby Zunil are well worth a visit.

Stayed the night here. Perfectly fine for a night or two in Calama. Walking distance to town.
The older couple have cabanas and a campsite. They are very friendly! Just like their dogs (just make sure to look where you walk, dog poop!). All facilities are there and clean. Warm showers, bathroom, sink, bbq, internet around the house and llamas! Payed 10.000 for two in a van.
