Parking lot outside of locked gate to a scenic park (worth a visit when open). came in late and found multiple other campers and cars parked there overnight. stayed one night with no issue. bathrooms are inside the locked area and too far to access at night so really no bathrooms. really cool lot right off the beach and pretty quiet. there are two lots outside the gate, we stayed at the one to the east a bit down from the gate with no issue.

EN: As there are so many deer's on this site, dogs are not allowed. Tick infestation because of wild animals, so I decided to go somewhere else.

FR: Puisque le lieu est très fréquenté par les animaux de la faune, cerf, ratons, castors et autres, le lieu est infesté de tiques. Pour cette raison, les chiens ne sont pas admis. Donc j'ai du choisir un autre site.

Really nice and quiet place over the river ! We pitch the tent just before the end of the road on a flat area ! Beautiful color at the sunset...

We spend the day (during the high season) on this amazing beach ! It was really quiet compare to other spot ; with some other IOverlander but there is lot of private spaces between pined for everyone.

Perfect for a night spot too I think.

The road to go there was amazing...

Arrived at 5:30pm and around 9:30 a police officer told us to go because it was not safe there and that we should go to an indoor parking downtown instead

We came for one night, stayed almost a week. Nice place, at the beach and near enough to the town.
Don't forget to walk over the beach, left, to the fish market.
Wifi near the Oceanic hotel is possible.

They are thermal pools in a big house if you drive up towards the mountains. It was 2sol pp. Doesn't present well but is definitely very hot. Possibility to shower next to the pools. Cabins to change clothes.

friendly family make you feel at home . They live simply so offer simple food . Rooms were 6000 each but good as the wind came up . Great to stopover to get sunset shots of the pass . If you camp and it is windy the corrugated iron shed makes a noise , as do the geese , so choose a spot away from the buildings . Lovely people here .

The community pool next to Kam Wah Chung Wayside park (possibly part of it) has showers. It says it charges for showers, but when we said we wanted to pay to swim and the showers they looked at us like we were crazy and just had us pay to swim. It was like $4 or less per person and you can swim, then shower with hot water for as long as you want after. Or just shower. Showers are open showers, so would recommend a swimsuit since there are kids coming in and out of the changing room occasionally. Pool has 2 slides, no chairs when we were there besides one picnic table. They have recreational swim times that would be the best time to go. (Posted on the outside of the building). If you are early go to Kam Wah Chung park or across the street go to the Kam Wah Chung state park building and get a free tour at the top of the hour of the building that is a perfectly preserved shop from the mid 1900’s. Very cool 45 min to an hour tour.

Great little museum. C20 per person. Nice area as described by others. Felt safe and even went to a fútbol game (a lot of fun) at the stadium.

Here you can ask David for a personal boat (6 person max) at 100 USD just for watching whales or 150 USD also whales and going with your own lunch in desert island with birds, you can swim, there isnt any feeded turtle but some corail and few fish.
You just need 20 minuts to reach the place instead of more than an hour for isla la plata (with 16 people per boat). It's an another untouristic alternative for whales.

Quiet boat launch on crown land with small camp spots. Some spots are lake side, some are tree-ed in. For small RV's or B class vans and tents. There was construction on hwy 502 with about 5 km of gravel road north of the site as of July 2019. Good site away from it all.

Turn off is easy to miss since it is near a turn and goes down once off the road. There are other dirt roads around it too. Dirt road and parking, could get very muddy in the rain. Mostly level places to park. There were some big bumps but mostly avoidable. Out 24ft Rv did okay, although a big bump did some rattling. A few rock fire pits. Can easily go down little trails to the river/stream. We were the only ones here when we stayed, could easily fit 10-15 small rigs and cars but it would be cozy. Would not recommend vehicles longer than 30ft since it would be hard to turn around if there are any other vehicles parked. Very little shade. Space for tents if there aren’t many vehicles.

Beautiful, big, old estate. Lovely group of volunteers working there. Luis, the owner, is a very nice guy. We stayed in our car for 20 soles and were invited to pizza and pisco tuesday for 10 soles pp. We loved the bathrooms which have an amazing view due to the one way mirror glass. We had such a good time!

Better than place under the bridge. Shady place near dirt road on a meadow over the river. Less mosquitos and less dirt than under the bridge. No 4x4 necessary to go there.

Amazing little hostel. One of my favorites in Colombia. As others mentioned, the warm hospitality of Jose is what makes this place so magical. I've never been treated like family so quickly by hostel staff. Rooms are simple, amenities are above standard: excellent Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry available on site, TV area, decent kitchen, hammocks and chilling space. Technically the name of the place is Donde Jose Hostel, it is in the main square. Price 20k for a private room with shared exterior bathroom. They have space to store bicycles or motorcycles, no problem. Cars can safely park out front.
